Just staying at DD's while she's on a course and SIL at work looking after DGD and taking her into nursery for a few hours mid morning til mid afternoon to play which she loves.
However before they had DGD they had two cats who they treat as their babies. It drives me mad. We have had cats in the last but this pair are so spoiled it drives me mad!
As soon as DD and SIL go to work I put cats out for the day-they have access to cellar downstairs via cat flap and have cosy boxes etc there (trust me it's not a hardship in there!). They want me to leave cellar door open-which I think is dangerous for DGD (only 2 1/2) as she could fall down stairs. And that allows cats access to the whole of the house including the kitchen where they walk on the table and the surfaces so I would spend all my time cleaning surfaces before I could use them. It makes food prep difficult as nothing can be left out-one morning one of them had its face in my weetabix bowl while I turned to get DGD's cereal-yuk, thank goodness I saw it!
Promise you won't tell!?

I would think that as they're quite used to going in and out of the cellar via the catflap they'll be fine outside for the day providing they are not in danger of getting onto a road. I would second the idea of a gate on the cellar door though - regardless of the cats comings and goings if the little one was to find the door open they could easily fall down the steps which I would think are not carpeted?
