A vote for remain could lead to war

within the next 3-5 years. My opinion. I haven't written this lightly.

EU has destabilised Europe by their immigration policy. Either by incompetence or some wanting it destabilised.

If their policy continues and we remain in the EU, I think war will break out. Within 5 years, if not 3.

We really need to vote Leave for all our sakes.

Elegran Thu 23-Jun-16 09:59:11

Could you tell us what you see as the EU's immigration policy, obieone ? For two categories - nationals of EU countries, and nationals of other countries? And what policy you would rather they adopted, with the results you would predict for that?

Alea Thu 23-Jun-16 10:00:25

Your opinion.
Right
Fortunately I don't share it.

whitewave Thu 23-Jun-16 10:03:17

Don't be silly obi

Indinana Thu 23-Jun-16 10:06:44

What whitewave said ^^

Badenkate Thu 23-Jun-16 10:07:40

I'miss sorry Obeione but that post signalled a last desperate attempt to influence uncertain voters without any basis in facts

obieone Thu 23-Jun-16 10:09:50

Keep to the policy that was working fine up to about 2 years ago.
Each country had rules in place that seemed to work fine.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 23-Jun-16 10:11:38

obieone even if you are right about the EU becoming less stable, the UK is a stabilising presence and always has been. That's one of the main reasons the other EU countries want us to stay. So vote Remain.

Anya Thu 23-Jun-16 10:13:05

Weird idea. Civil unrest I might agree, but war?

Elegran Thu 23-Jun-16 10:14:19

Is that about people from EU countries or non-EU?

Two years ago lots of things changed - not in the EU. The violence that broke out in several places in the Middle East caused an exodus of people fleeing to safer places.

Elegran Thu 23-Jun-16 10:19:09

The policy

It is the people from OUTSIDE the EU who are flooding into Europe, most of them illegally and dangerously by boat or by stowing away in death-trap lorries.

This is a humanitarian problem, not one about free movement of EU citizens working or studying in other countries. What would YOU do with them? Throw them all off the nearest pier into the sea?

Elegran Thu 23-Jun-16 10:19:57

The policy is the same as it was. No change.

tanith Thu 23-Jun-16 10:20:32

OMG!!!!!

Elegran Thu 23-Jun-16 10:22:32

Exodus - now that is a word which should ring bells with you, obieone . Moses led his people out of Egypt for the promised land, flowing with milk and honey.

Anniebach Thu 23-Jun-16 10:34:40

War ? Between which countries? Even Farage hasn't come up with this one

Boris and his bananas. Farage and his traffic jams caused by immigrants, now we have war

whitewave Thu 23-Jun-16 10:38:25

[Grin] it all gets sillier by the minute.

What is totally alarming is that these morons will be in power if the vote is Brexit.

Not you obi you aren't a moron.

POGS Thu 23-Jun-16 10:41:51

Obieone

This thought is about as annoying to me a reason to vote Leave as the thoughts of those who tell us to vote remain because we are too thick to understand, Little Englanders, racist xenophobes.

whitewave Thu 23-Jun-16 10:43:53

grin pogs I should stop reading if I were you only you are going to break a blood vessel

POGS Thu 23-Jun-16 10:45:48

Mind you thinking about isn't Obieone saying no more than those who said they believe being part of the European Union has saved us all from hostilities, protected us from war with our neighbours since WW11.

Maybe there is more agreement between some on both sides of the divide than they think there is. Hmmmm.

suzied Thu 23-Jun-16 10:51:11

its so nice to listen to the radio today and not hear any silly claims /counter claims about the EU. I wish Gransnet adopted this policy.

Alea Thu 23-Jun-16 10:54:04

Only if you go so far to the extremes that you meet round the back! POGS
It is not unreasonable to believe that cooperation between countries helps prevent war, that faced with a problem which is BIGGER than Europe, a united approach is the only sensible one and that when facing global issues we need a cooperative policy not a fragmented "I'm all right Jack, stuff the rest of you" mindset.
To say that all of what I believe characterises European cooperation would LEAD to war, is I believe, without foundation, scaremongering and indefensible.
I am sure that we are all capable of weighing up the FACTS and the ISUES , both in GN and in RL , but sadly there are others who are not and that is what worries me

harrigran Thu 23-Jun-16 11:33:27

Elegran most lorries are not death-traps they only become so because the immigrants shut themselves into refrigerated carriers. Common sense goes out of the window with desperation.

Alea Thu 23-Jun-16 11:35:58

"Shut themselves in"? Harrigran Yes they fear being found but the real villains (and usually the ones who shut and lock the container doors) are the traffickers including the drivers who stand to earn a tidy sum

obieone Thu 23-Jun-16 11:40:58

When I had a cinversation with a poster about 1 weeks ago[sorry can't remember who it was now], she explained that people in Germany, in the 20s and 30s, got unsettled by large groups of immigrants.
She said there were no such things as border controls at all back then, and this was part of the build up to WW2.
