Food banks as poor relief

The fact that food banks exist in the UK might be regarded as "disgusting and disgraceful" (whitewave 08:01:02) but talking about it cannot be called so. I suppose having to or feeling the need to talk about it in the UK in 2016 is rather shocking but the actual talking about it is not disgusting or disgraceful. Just saying because I think the distinctions are important.

Taxi could be owned and run by a family memeber or friend giving them a ift for free.

It is alway unwise to make sweeping conclusions from something even as straightforward as a client at a food bank using a taxi unless you are fully conversant with every detail of the circumstances surrounding the use of the taxi

I remember a Salvation Army officer who had had serious heart surgery and was banned from carrying anything heavy saying how he felt walking across Waterloo station in the rush hour on his way to a cnvalescent home with his wife, who was much smaller than him, walking beside him carrying both their suitcases. To all intents and purposes, he looked fit and well, nobody could tell by looking at him that he was recovering from major surgery. He just had to accept the shocked looks and thoughts of those who saw this strapping SA officer in uniform letting his wife, also uniformed carry the suit cases.

I was going to write that re talking about it not being disgraceful but then I thought "Bags will be along soon to cover that".
