Mrs P hates my beard, she is always moaning that it looks scruffy and is prickly.

8 hours ago I shaved it off, she has not noticed !!! We have been out together all afternoon, nothing.

Because he so rarely leaves the house DH often doesn't shave. After a few days I start nagging but several times he has shaved it all off and I haven't noticed smile then he nags!

I have mentioned before that my mother didn't notice that my father had shaved off his moustache for their wedding. This was after she told him she would leave him at the altar if he didn't. She blamed nerves!

Mrs. Grumppa had never seen me clean shaven before, come to think of it. The beard had last been removed for a part in a staff play in my Dip. Ed. year, 1967.

I've not noticed DS taking off his beard, in my defence I'll say that only see him every other weekend!

GandTea , Maybe she might have noticed if you've held her in your arms and kissed her !

My DH sometimes has a beard & sometimes doesn't - I'mnot sure I could always tell someone if he currently has one or not. He did grow a particularly spectacular one recently which was then reduced to a goatee(I loved this!) and finally to a very luxuriant military moustache. This was for my son's surprise 30th birthday party with a WW2 theme - DH made a very impressive Field Marshall! I hated the moustache & he actually shaved it off half way through the party

Years ago, DH was a lecturer suede jacket, beard ,you get the picture. Kept it for 10- 12 years. Decided it was getting a bit grey ( the beard not th jacket).
Went on holiday to France and on arrival at the hotel shaved the beard off.
Don't know who was more disconcerted, Madame or me when we went for dinner it was like being with a different man!

Funnygran Fri 17-Jun-16 13:11:33

DH has had a beard since he retired 10 years ago and keeps it well trimmed. DD came in the other day and commented on it asking why he had suddenly decided to grow one!

Nonnie1 Fri 17-Jun-16 11:45:55

Oh Boy Jackie.

Just remember why you married him, and drop hints that you liked the facial hair?

I suppose it's a bit like the memories thread.. remembering a smell or a look and associating it with happy er times?

JackyB Fri 17-Jun-16 11:40:11

Yes Nonnie. When I met my husband he was a student and had a full beard. He shaved it off about the time I had my hysterectomy, or maybe about the time our third child was born, can't remember exactly. I haven't felt the same about him since. He recently shaved off the moustache too and I have no feelings for him any more at all.

Normally I am not affected by what people look like - I have no problems with any form of facial hair or lack thereof, tattoos, hair dyed green, so probably my reaction was a symptom of something else. He just chose the wrong time to shave.

Elegran Fri 17-Jun-16 11:31:37

nonnie grin

grandMattie Fri 17-Jun-16 11:26:41

Nonnie1 Fri 17-Jun-16 11:09:13

LOL

Elegran Fri 17-Jun-16 11:06:48

Missed a * there!

grandMattie Fri 17-Jun-16 11:06:23

Never seen DH clean shaven. In fact, MiL once showed me a photo of him without said beard and it took me about 2 hours to realise who it wasgrin.
My problem is that no-one notices my new glasses unless, like this time, they are SO out of character that they stand out as though they had neon arrows pointing to them screaming "NEW GLASSES"!!!

Elegran Fri 17-Jun-16 11:06:13

Nonnie* Try TWO dashes either end of what you want to strike through, touching it but not touching the words on either side.

Nonnie1 Fri 17-Jun-16 11:01:44

sorry can't do the strike through to save my life

Nonnie1 Fri 17-Jun-16 11:01:14

Did any of you marry a man with a beard only to find you did not
-fancy- like him clean shaven??

lizzypopbottle Fri 17-Jun-16 10:19:23

My late husband usually wore a full beard, always keeping it and moustache tidy and trim. Soon after our first child was born he decided to shave off the beard and out came an incipient double chin! That wasn't there when we met as students! Anyway, next day he went to work and got puzzled looks from his colleagues. Something was different but what? After a while, one of the girls in the office announced triumphantly, "I know what it is! You've grown a moustache!"

Nonnie1 Fri 17-Jun-16 09:54:46

I cut my partner's hair, so the only comments from me to him are that he got that free and I deserve a cup of tea now smile

While on the other hand, I got my hair cut into a bob a couple of weeks ago and when I came home nobody in the house said a thing.

After the comments I have read on here I an now wondering if they said nothing because it looks awful.

Nah..........

HannahLoisLuke Fri 17-Jun-16 09:47:05

About 10 years ago my ex returned from the hairdresser minus his beard and moustache. Neither my young son nor I recognised him!
We hated his new look but he never grew it back.

GandTea Fri 17-Jun-16 09:44:31

Mrs P is always in the right, even when she is wrong, which of course is never. hmm

PRINTMISS Fri 17-Jun-16 09:37:38

I think it is true what Zen says, you just sometimes see the person, and not what is on the outside.

Bubbe Fri 17-Jun-16 09:36:34

I would say Mrs P didn't notice because the clean-shaven look clearly suits you so well. And therefore, she was obviously in the right all along.

GandTea Fri 17-Jun-16 09:10:54

She has, only because I told her.

Teetime Fri 17-Jun-16 09:07:29

I admit sometimes I don't notice if DH has had a haircut but its not exactly lustrous anyway as he keep its fairly short and its very fine (no bald patches though). I would really notice if the beard went missing as I have been married to it for 38 years now. Poor GandTea I hope she has noticed by now. smile
