Your needs appear to frequently take a back seat. It isn't fair. It isn't your husband's fault. However, you need and deserve proper support.

Bellanonna Your spirit is strong. Us lot can sometimes lose touch with the on going problems and depressing setbacks that a number of our Kitcheners carry on dealing with.

ann60, I had a problem with (I assume) the same hospital when I was due for my hip operation. I asked them to put me a week later because my sister, who was coming to stay, couldn't manage the week my op had been scheduled. So they put me to the end of the list. I was distraught and in a lot of pain, so I did some digging and found that I knew personally a number of the governors of the Trust and emailed them. I soon got a reinstatement at a date my sister could manage. I don't know if there are any strings you can pull, but you might contact your consultant and explain exactly what happened. I don't think he will be too happy with that appointments system.

PS If PALS have improved in the last 11 years, by all means contact them. I found them to be no more use than a chocolate teapot.

ann I know there is nothing we can do practically I only wish we could, but always remember we are a listening ear. (Sorry don't know how you do hugs, but would send them anyway)

That is a totally cr*p result annsixty and I could weep and shout for you. I hope some of the suggestions nd advice the others have given might prove helpful, but for now I share your fury and disappointment.
My DH had a much better night and has now had his echocardiogram, which I am sure will have been fine, so he is hopeful he might get home tomorrow or Saturday at the latest. He will still need his IV. Antibiotics but those can be administered 3x a day by the OPAT nurse team from the hospital via the cannula which will be left in.

Hi all, sorry that several of you are having a hard time atm. Recent events have made me very depressed and have not felt like posting, today's events have cheered me up somewhat.

Woke this morning with toothache (been nagging for a while), we are on holiday for 3 weeks next week, so phoned dentist at 8:30am, fitted me in at 11am, found cause and has hopefully fixed it. Not bad for a NHS dentist

Alea could that baby get any cuter ? I'm sorry to hear the noise etc is getting your husband down, I have to say I think hospitals are the least restful places in the world to get well in. I do hope he's feeling a little better soon and can come home to a little peace and quiet. I hope you're getting some decent rest in the meantime too.

Annsixty I am so sorry the call was missed and cannot begin to know how you manage on a daily basis let alone with this latest let down. I wish there was something practical I could do to help. Just settling for sending you a large bottle of wine ( sod the flowers !! Not much help I know but take a little comfort from something my old Gran used to say 'Even the hardest day is only 24hours long' maybe tomorrow can bring you at least some good news if not respite from caring for your poor husband.

A tip from DIL - freeze the strawberries - keep a bagful in the freezer - chills the Pimms very nicely apparently.

Trouble is, it's dance night tonight and I have to drive, so it's a virtual G&T.

Oh but they go pale and mushy jalima, although lemon and/or lime segments do freeze well for g&t's.

Now I remember, about four weeks ago, the Express forecast that we were going to have a prolonged heatwave. Should have known what to expect.

The most important is to say please don't leave us completely Ann. You have had a terrible time lately and missing that phone call must have put the lid on it. I hope you can use the ideas that others have had and also tell your GP how badly it has affected you so that he realises what you are coping with on a day to day basis and I hope you will continue to rant/ let off steam here.

Glad to see that the dentist has fitted you in already GandTea. I hope it has been successful. I could do with a large G&T at the moment so will enjoy your virtual one and look forward to a reall one when watching Portugal play tonight. I hope they win as it might cheer DH who is heading into depression at the moment. We have had a sad day anyway as a) it would have been our son's birthday today, b) it was DD1's last day with us and she is heading for the airport at the moment. Worst of all after an ecograph and other tests this morning, DH has been told that he has to have a mammogram and is convinced of the worst case scenario. I am trying to stay positive but can't help thinking of how bad his general health has been in the last year.

It's hot and humid today here at the moment too. But no midges. One of the things I keep meaning to say is that there seem to be extra mosquitoes in the Algarve this year and warn anyone coming on holiday to use a lot of Insect repellent.
None of our family has been bitten (yet!) but two separate lots of visitors have. Even those staying at the coast where I thought it was less likely.
