Thank you for your wishes. I have removed the stain from the bedroom carpet where DH had managed to spill some tea when he bought it up (bless him). The sun is shining at last and we, and two large dogs, are off to the coast for the day. I am being taken out to dinner this evening so I am told, and Sunday all the family are coming over- message read "Mum we are getting everything, you are not to do anything". So here's to another year, bit early in the day but

We survived yesterday with our 3 little ones. Our DGD is 9 and is so good with the smaller ones. She has a kind heart ( and kick ass karate skills ). We had a lively day thanks to the rain and went to a wonderful new soft play place nearby .

The price was extortionate but you could stay hours , not only was there soft play but racing cars, a whole floor of role play buildings and dress up, messy play, outdoor play, a carousel etc etc . Food was reasonably priced and you all had to have your photograph taken going in and going out. So no taking a child that you didn't come in with

Today we need a rest!

Happy birthday Milly- it is rather over shadowed today I am afraid. Enjoy dinner this evening and it sounds as though the family have it all sussed for the weekend. Definitely feet up.

NanandGrampy it also meant that you could not leave any behind! It does sound as though they were well catered for even if it was very expensive. At least you did not have to think about entertainment, you could sit and chat over a cup of coffee.

It looks a pleasant day today- I have not heard the weather forecast as it appeared to be overshadowed by other news.

One of my little neighbours was 9 yesterday (going on 19) and I have been invited to her birthday party I think next Saturday. Why she wants me there I have not a clue but I will poke my head in and say hello. I have never tasted Polish tit bits, that will be a first.

It appears to be a regular problem with soop. There does not appear to be a way around it. It is very irritating when it does happen and with soop it is with monotonous regularity.

Alea I hope that you feel more rested. I am assuming that your DH is still in hospital. I hope that he at least is feeling better and is less grumpy. At least Grace shows that she loves you.

Commiserations re the Internet soop. I'm glad you seem to be making progress with getting your op done soon.

I have a confession to make too.I have discovered Snickers chocolate ices. Not only that but when there no more left in the shop DH came home with Peanut butter double chocolate Magnums instead.
Maybe we ought to start a Magnums Anonymous.

Charleygirl I went to a Polish christening once. Lovely hospitable family, I'm afraid I can't remember what the food was like but I can remember the vodka being dispernsed in the kitchen by what I thought of then as " the little old ladies".

I gave the girl money for her birthday and I think like last year it is going towards a bedroom for herself! I dread to think how many people live in that small modern 3 bedroomed house. Mother, eldest son, his girlfriend, grandmother and two children, the girl aged 9 and the little boy aged 6. Sometimes the eldest daughter and her boyfriend stay overnight.

Our lounge/diner is one room and I know that they are using the dining room end as a bedroom. There cannot be much privacy in that house.

I doubt if vodka will be available at the child's party but I do not touch spirits so no problem there. I have no idea how they manage financially as mother speaks very little English so can only really get cleaning jobs.

I have just received an enormous package containing a step stool which I've bought to replace the one that collapsed under me the other day - spare your concern, I wasn't injured! The box is about five times the size of the contents and at the moment is cluttering up my kitchen. Even if I manage to break it up, there won't be much room left in the recycling bin. If I can get it into the car, I suppose a trip to the tip is called for. The said car is at the garage having yet another repair which will most likely break the already straining bank.

Gosh what a relief not to be talking about the Referendum. So much has been said (also by me) but nothing will change the result. The longer term outcome is also not in our hands so let's just pull up the drawbridge, lay in the supplies of Magnums and pray for fine weather for Wimbledon.
soop how frustrating to be without Internet access surely an exception could have been made for the Kitchen, even if you could happily do without much of the rest of it!
I am beginning to understand the heartache occasioned by the Scottish Referendum however, despite feeling strongly about it at the time, it didn't quite hit home from a distance.
Just wondering if the Kitchen might offer B&B however?

And...here I be. Twenty four hours without broadband. Enough to drive me even pottier than I am already.

TriciaF Before leaving Cornwall I had an anterior/posterior ventral suspension...a mesh cradle. I was in hospital for almost a week. It was a buggeration to recover from. I seem prone to hernias of one kind or another. Had an iguinial ? spelling, and a femoral hernia repair.
However, I shall remain positive and count my blessings, of which there are many.

GandTea Boy oh boy...I can well imagine you in patent dancing shoes. I bet you and Mrs G&T floated around the dance floor.

dustyangel When in my twenties, I attended a Polish thanksgiving party, the neat vodka was downed from wee thimble-size glasses. A fiddler was playing a lively tune. I danced like a whirling dervish. I cannot remember being taken home in a taxi. I was living with my Nana at the time. The hangover was out of this world.

anno certain step-stools can be tricky to dismount, especially if one is holding some stuff from a cupboard. I tend to dither (a little) which doesn't help my balance one little bit.

Soop "Floated" well I guess there was a watery connection, "floundered" would be more appropriate. No, they are not patent, with size 12 feet, I prefer something a little less obvious.

GandTea Size 12! Mine are a tiddly size 4. Never mind, I expect that for as long as we can remain upright, we're well blest.

I am trying my best to become fitter and firmer. Just a little too much podginess in some quarters. MacSporran thinks I'm perfect...that counts for a lot.

On with the cycle clips...I'm about to pedal the exercise bike for 20 very long minutes.

Good evening to you all. It has been a day that I shall never forget.

Fortunately it doesn't take much to please me now. This morning I received a copy of a letter to the consultant who is dealing with my eye problem, from the consultant who I saw recently in Manchester and who gave me the PDT treatment. He referred to me twice as this very pleasant lady. I felt very chuffed.

I have ordered and paid for my new vinyl flooring in the kitchen and it will be laid next Wednesday afternoon.

Then a trip around Sainsburys to buy salt- came out with £30 of goodies so the salt was expensive. While there, I had my car washed and polished so it will look smart for a few hours. An expensive couple of hours out methinks.

It does help at times to have a birdbrain because I forgot about Magnum icecream, any flavour!

In the post this morning I received a drawing from my grand daughter, specially drawn for me as she didn't have time to finish it on Sunday when we were on Skype. Think mummy might have helped with the writing. Haven't had a drawing to put up on the fridge for a long time. It is lovely to get a letter, to get a drawing is special.
