silverlining... all you do is work a little of it through your hair to the ends and then style dry as usual. Don't use too much. It is amazing stuff !

Sounds like conditioning products will be high on your list. Did your hairdresser recommend any particular products? It's always good to know what the experts think are worth buying!

I got a small bottle of the oil in Marrakech h but have forgotten how to use it so it just sits in the corner ......advice much appreciated

I use Morrocan oil as a conditioner for my hair. It makes it shine and gives it a new lease of life. I bought a bottle on the 'plane coming back from my holiday and was amazed with the result.

Go to a hairdresser but before that try washing it in either Fairy Liquid or Head and Shoulders or even Pantene as they are all capable of stripping paint off a liner

Phew! What a relief for you.

Reporting that when my hairdresser came yesterday she sorted me out and I no longer look like a traffic light. She advised not to get any of the colour stripping options in the shops, possibly because my hair is now very fine and sadly, thinner than before. Am happy now and thanks to all who offered suggestions.

Thanks all. Haven't done anything as there seems to be such a lot of different suggestions to try and deal and I don't want to make things worse.
. My hairdresser is coming on weds and I have phoned to warn her. Am hoping she can help. This will be the last time I have a go and in future will leave well alone. It's just that my hair has got a lot much thinner and I wanted to avoid too much damage so thought something off the shelf gentle and semi permanent may be better. Big mistake! Am wearing my ginger with pride, but as it blends with the tanned face, I won't be sorry to return to my usual more subtle colour.

Why not tell everyone you know that you're doing it for charity and would they like to sign up for so much a day until you can't bear it any longer, or so much per week, or cm of regrowth. Choose a currently high profile and popular charity and you'll end up doing good and feeling pleased with yourself ?

Purple shampoo WILL tone down orange hair. I was a hairdresser, so I do know about it. Choose a good brand though, and leave on for about 3 minutes....then rinse off an d use a lilac condition er as well

I've been there after washing in head and shoulders lots of times I mixed bicarbonate soda with lemon juice and washing up liquid applied it to my hair put a shower cap on and left it an hour then rinsed and put lots of conditioner on it faded a lot but I did eventually go to the hairdresser to have it coloured.

It happened to me too. My hairdresser told me not to buy anything with the word gold in it. She said to go for ash blonde. It took weeks for mine to fade, but mine was a permanent dye.

Always been a ginger...used to be called belisha beacon! Wear it with a smile...hope you find something that works.

Vosene medicated shampoo will do it definitely

Purple shampoo is for toning yellow hair not orange. You need a Blue to counteract the orange colour. (Opposites on the colour wheel)

I'm not keen on DIY colour removers like ColourB4 but if you've used an oxidising colour, it will remove it. (It's an oxidising colour if you had to mix two solutions together before applying it). The MOST important thing is to agitate the hair constantly when rinsing it and use a timer to ensure you rinse the hair for at least 5 minutes. If you don't rinse it enough, any colour left behind will re-oxidise and become orange again. Do not be tempted to re-colour it yourself afterwards though.

Also, make sure your hairdresser knows you used this product.
Hopefully, she's a decent colourist who understands how this product affects any colour she subsequently applies.

The head and shoulders should work, but any medicated or anti dandruff shampoo takes hair colour out.

Colour B4 which you can get from boots strips out the colour, ready for you to apply new colour. It's a bit lengthy but apparently good. There are a lot of videos on YouTube show you what to do etc.

Go to a professional hairdresser or wear a hat. You could seriously damage your hair.

There is a shampoo (very gentle) that reduces brassiness.....purple shampoo.....boots stock it, or buy online, its called Fudge clean blonde violet toning shampoo. Its very good, and it works. :-)

I'd see a professional. Bleach hair is different from coloured hair and you need to get the hair looked at. Overprocessed hair can just break off.

In the 80s I used henna for the first time and ended up looking like a baked bean. Hairdressers could do nothing to help. It was in fabulous condition though!

Thanks all, I will phone and warn my hairdresser who is coming on weds and in the meantime will keep a low profile. Trouble is my face is tanned and it all blends together in a not very attractive way.

Colour b4 I think it was I got in Sainsburys to remove my hair colour when going grey. Also fairy liquid/head and shoulders worth a try.
