Orange hair..help please

* Badenkate* when I was in the Army in the sixties, there as a girl in our platoon who was notorious for changing her hair colour with alarming frequency - strictly on a DIY basis. Her hair did actually turn green. It did at least match her uniform (almost), but she got into hot water for it and had to keep having her hair cut very short until it grew out. She never changed it again.

Yes, mine was a lot like that, Lara! It didn't smell like tikka masala, though.

I had mine done deliberately that sort of colour a couple of years ago, silverlining48, because I just fancied cheering myself up a bit. I was a bit dubious even on the way home when I kept catching my glowing reflection in the windows I passed, but even more so when a colleague was gobsmacked that a professional had done it, not me in my bathroom with the rubber gloves. We all got used to it, though.

I think I would let a professional sort it out. You run the risk of really damaging your hair if you try anything else on it. At least it hasn't gone green.

Can you not wash it several times a day to remove the harshness of it??

There are a couple of products which claim to remove hair colourant - think one of them's called 'Colour-B-Gone' or something similar! You can probably get advice from Boots or Superdrug.

If you don't want Ito throw yourself on the mercy of a strange hair dresser, which is what I would do, I believe there is a product which strips dye out of hair and should stop you looking like Vivien Westwood, but don't know the name.
Maybe a gentle ash toner once you used that as it might still look a bit brassy.
Or else get some red tartan and carry it off with panache!!

I have been told that Head and Shoulders shampoo strips hair colour. Might be worth a try.

I am sorry, I did not mean to be rude at all. I have one of those minds that goes off at tangents.

I am no hairdresser but I think you will be able to find someone who can help soon without making flippant remarks.
