I have been a member and regular contributor to GN since its inception, many of you will know me as Pompa.

I have always tried to be helpful to those that need it where my skills are appropriate. I have always been compassionate to those in trouble and always tried to inject a little humour into my posts.

I am not racist, feminist or any other form of ist (perhaps a bit of a pessimist now)

In all the years I have been here I have not knowingly been reported.

But I have now been reported ( I guess for racism because of my humorous thread in the Gardening forum regarding immigrant Spanish slugs.

GN is no longer the great site it used to be, it has become very unpleasant on many threads, dominated by a few posters.

Many GNers are now afraid to post for fear of verbal retribution.

Humour that is in the least edgy is condemned by a few.

Please, please will those Gners that want GN to become the fun site that it was again please speak up.

I am now leaving GN, I'm sure that there are those that are now cheering as they have won, but to the rest of my friends,
Love
Pompa

I wish someone would send me the same pm Glass. I am now wondering if the 'new' posters I have seen are actually old ones with new names.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 07-Jun-16 13:29:25

I usually ask Ana. (fount of all info) Ana expect a PM. smile

Ana Tue 07-Jun-16 13:32:21

annodomini Tue 07-Jun-16 18:25:42

Aw, kitty as if I would agree with that. What I did agree with was when you said "And some members should be a lot less flipping judgmental." sunshine

Regarding == "Apparently many, including GrandTea, do not respect the Mods wishes but that is not the same as them not saying it."

May I just clarify what I said earlier. GNHQ wished me to agree to them changing the thread name (as said, I could not make that change, only GNHQ could). I was not happy with that request and a number of emails ensued discussing the options. Eventually (I suspect as a result of the reaction from other GNers) they decided to leave it alone. Had they insisted, I would have reluctantly conceded to their wishes, but they discussed it and did not insist. I do respect the Mods, but will discuss their wishes with them.

It is good to hear that common sense prevailed and that you stood your ground GT and that the mods took into consideration the strong and sensible views expressed by the large majority of GNetters.

Ana Tue 07-Jun-16 19:39:52

I wonder whether the original 'reporter' has been arguing their case with GNHQ as well...or have they just slinked back to wherever they came from? No matter - democracy (GN-style) rules! smile

Ana Tue 07-Jun-16 19:40:34

Should that be 'slunk'? confused

Iam64 Tue 07-Jun-16 19:41:07

When I saw the title of the thread GandTea, I thought it must be about Spanish Bluebells, I don't know if any other posters have already said this, if so apologies for repeating. I read the first 3 pages this morning, just popped in to update and can't face reading another 6 - no offence meant

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 19:42:30

Yes,ntgerecwerecatvkeastvtwo orcthree if us that thought that Iam

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 19:42:55

What the........???????

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 19:43:42

Try again.....yes, there were at least two or three of us that thought that Iam

Anya Tue 07-Jun-16 19:46:11

You been at the red, falling-down juice again roses grin

Anya Tue 07-Jun-16 19:50:09

I'm always getting it in the neck from various posters even when I haven't been on a thread. I sort of think 'WTF?' and then I realise they've got me muddled up with other posters, again.

it more often happens later in the evening when they've possibly been at the wine too.

Blinko Tue 07-Jun-16 20:01:55

Roses grin

I think GN is a wonderful site, full of wisdom, irreverence, good ole common sense and much kindness. Who are all these back stabbers and snakes in the grass? I can't believe people actually want to spoil the whole thing by snitching and backbiting.

Plus I'm baffled as to why/how lots of people seem to know who lots of others are.... How does that work? Perhaps I'm best left in ignorance - which is bliss, as we know. wine flowers cupcake

BBbevan Tue 07-Jun-16 20:33:29

Blinko I could have written your post myself. And why do people Change their names?. Bit baffled by that also

TriciaF Tue 07-Jun-16 20:59:41

Anya - there are a few of you with names beginning with A - I sometimes get confused.
eg Ana Anya Alea, and I think there's someone called Alima? Plus all those starting with Ann....
I know I'm sometimes confused with Trisha, and I think there's another Tricia followed by a number.

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 21:59:24

People change names for all sorts of reasons, maybe a family member knows who they are, or they leave the forum and then come back at a later date.Who really is bothered by this? It's only the business of the poster.
I have never been anyone else, just for the record. ( gives a thatbags shrug.)

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 22:00:48

White falling down juice Anya but only one glass ( a large one though.)?

Regalo Tue 07-Jun-16 22:00:51

The title of your post intrigued me...and I laughed so much when I read your post. Brilliant...keep them coming, we need your sense of humour.

rubylady Wed 08-Jun-16 01:15:38

I had no idea that Pompa was GandTea and haven't even read any thread about any snails. I am still under the same name I have always been although there is another ruby but there's only one rubylady! grin

GandTea Wed 08-Jun-16 07:00:49

This is a sincere open apology to anyone that feels I deceived them by re-joining GN with a new name. It was not my intention to deceive and never said anything that was miss-leading. My new persona was exactly that, a new one. I did however keep personal information about myself very limited, but never untrue.

In some ways i would prefer to remain anonymous, but I find it impossible to say what I want without being more open, eg, being male etc. Jokes about bald ladies are NOT funny.

thatbags Wed 08-Jun-16 07:08:56

Good answer, roses. People change their username because, at the time of changing it, they have a reason to do so. Whether they wish to tell others what the reasons are is up to them.

A reason might well be to 'deceive' in the sense of to hide. Reasons for hiding/deceiving are not all bad reasons so the actions of anyone who changed their username in order to 'hide' (for reasons known to themselves) should not be automatically regarded as deceptive in a negative sense.

Anya Wed 08-Jun-16 07:37:52

Just pleased to know you're still around GT - as bags says no need to apologise, you had your reasons.
