I have been a member and regular contributor to GN since its inception, many of you will know me as Pompa.

I have always tried to be helpful to those that need it where my skills are appropriate. I have always been compassionate to those in trouble and always tried to inject a little humour into my posts.

I am not racist, feminist or any other form of ist (perhaps a bit of a pessimist now)

In all the years I have been here I have not knowingly been reported.

But I have now been reported ( I guess for racism because of my humorous thread in the Gardening forum regarding immigrant Spanish slugs.

GN is no longer the great site it used to be, it has become very unpleasant on many threads, dominated by a few posters.

Many GNers are now afraid to post for fear of verbal retribution.

Humour that is in the least edgy is condemned by a few.

Please, please will those Gners that want GN to become the fun site that it was again please speak up.

I am now leaving GN, I'm sure that there are those that are now cheering as they have won, but to the rest of my friends,
Love
Pompa

I'd be amazed if anyone thought you were trying to deceive them GandT/Pompa. Surely, that would mean that we're all being deceitful because we're using a GN id and not our real names (whether, or not, we change our username)

Glad you're still around, I wondered where Pomps had gone smile sunshine

Perhaps this could be a standard response ...

Anya Wed 08-Jun-16 07:53:41

Where's our 'like' button? grin

thatbags Wed 08-Jun-16 07:56:47

Haha! Love it, gknot grin

Lona Wed 08-Jun-16 07:58:27

janeainsworth Wed 08-Jun-16 07:59:07

nice one gk grin

MiniMouse Wed 08-Jun-16 08:15:20

Wonder who you've offended with that GK? wink grin

Elegran Wed 08-Jun-16 08:24:22

GK has probably offended several different groups. Well done - taking personal offence (or often offence on behalf of others who themselves don't see any problem) when it was not deliberately intended is a luxury, and those who make a habit of it are just indulging their self-absorption. "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most sinned against of all?"

Blinko Wed 08-Jun-16 08:24:22

I'd like a 'Like' button, too. Any chance, GNHQ?

ffinnochio Wed 08-Jun-16 08:28:42

With you there, gk. grin

fiorentina51 Wed 08-Jun-16 08:32:41

kittylester Wed 08-Jun-16 08:41:56

Love it GK!

merlotgran Wed 08-Jun-16 08:47:38

Excellent! grin

GandTea Wed 08-Jun-16 08:56:00

GK, just how I feel at times, we need that as an emoticon.

I don't like the F word in posts, but used like this it is funny, and fine with me. (OK I know if it wasn't, you WGAF)

Grannyknot Wed 08-Jun-16 08:59:15

(Masquerading as Bags) - I haven't offended anyone. However, the cartoon posted by me may have caused someone to take offence, if they choose to do so etc. ... grin

baubles Wed 08-Jun-16 09:00:36

Love that Gk

In fact I'm going to steal it. Hope you're not offended but if you are..........

rosesarered Wed 08-Jun-16 09:17:02

The first laugh of the day, Grannyk I partucularly like the caring expression on the face of the angel.grin

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jun-16 09:27:24

Perhaps this thread is getting rather unpleasant now? There is probably a GNr out there feeling damned uncomfortable about a 'crime' that really wasn't that bad.

The cartoon is cruel. Which is probably why it is finding so much favour on Gransnet.

I despair of this site. There is no real humanity shown here.

GandTea Wed 08-Jun-16 09:35:05

I thought you were leaving this thread ? Couldn't stay away eh ?

( that's my problem, on some threads, I can't stop digging my hole)

Oh yes, and Good Morning JBF sunshine

Anniebach Wed 08-Jun-16 09:38:34

Agree Jingle

I think when people are offended they feel hurt, change offended to hurt in that cartoon and would the reply bring the same praise ?

Jenty61 Wed 08-Jun-16 09:38:56

nothing cruel about the cartoon at all it was funny...whats there to despair about ?

'double standards' spring to mind Jinglbellsfrocks!

thatbags Wed 08-Jun-16 09:38:58

You're missing the point, jings. "Offended" is not the same as genuinely hurt. I think the misunderstanding of the difference is part of the overall problem.

I could decide to be "offended" by all the builders' bum cracks that appear within my field of vision (likewise all the excessive cleavages) or something equally unharmful. As it is, I just think "yuck" and move on.

thatbags Wed 08-Jun-16 09:41:30

A stronger example would be women showing their hair in cultures where some people regard it as wrong. Seeing a woman's hair does not hurt anyone, regardless of their feelings about it, even if they go so far as to think it immoral.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jun-16 09:42:33

It is Gransnet as a whole I sometimes despair about.

Of course the cartoon is cruel.

GandTea Wed 08-Jun-16 09:44:57

oops, I took Jings comment as irony, was I supposed to be offended ?
