I gave up starching shirts when I left the WRAF. I made a point of making a complete mess of ironing my ex DH (also RAF) uniform trousers and shirts, so he had to do it himself or get into trouble.

Lona Sat 04-Jun-16 16:42:31

Could be because he's sitting on it too much! wink

Nonnie1 Sat 04-Jun-16 16:39:37

And now.........

I have packed the suitcase, and unpacked it because it weighs too much..

Had my nails done on both hands and feet (Mauve sparkles on toes and plain on fingers)
Fake tanned

Sanded the skirting but not painted it yet

Got the hair straightened.. looking good if I say so myself smile Well.. someone has to.. nobody notices anything around here..

And now I'm off to the supermarket to get food in for those who will be here when I'm not

Then a last leisurely walk with my beloved dogs before the 'big off'... loosely translated means when the taxi arrives.

Where am I going to I hear you say..

Girls, if I told you that I would have to kill you smile

Oh and to cap it all off my partner now has a boil on his bum. I told him he'll have to 'sit on that' until we have time.. LOL

boheminan grin I did much the same as you yesterday.

I gave up starching shirts when DH left the Army! Glad to see the back of that chore, especially in the summer when sleeves had to be folded to the right length and measured with a ruler! I felt tired just reading your list, nonnie! I have started a packing list for our holiday in August - so far it has one item on it! I'll get there......smile

harrigran Sat 04-Jun-16 12:57:36

I used to starch DH's shirts, just his white work ones and the formal shirt that goes with his evening suit.

Indinana Sat 04-Jun-16 11:53:39

You bleached the drive? You're sanding and painting skirting boards? Is this normal holiday preparation for you? confused

Have a lovely holiday Nonnie, wherever you're off to smile

My lovely but not very tidy son minds our house while we are away, so most of that energy would be wasted I leave it clean and then blitz after he has gone. Must admit the house wasn't too bad when we came back this year. Have a lovely time Nonnie I intend to keep your list to use when the weather is cooler.

Nonnie1 Sat 04-Jun-16 09:39:28

I must confess I found the spray starch when I was cleaning out the cupboard under the sink (another of those most valuable 'before I go away' jobs)

kittylester Sat 04-Jun-16 09:24:03

Have a good trip nonnie, I must have missed where you are off to but enjoy it.

Spray starch is the way to go - for my linen, not DH's shirts!

Nonnie1 Sat 04-Jun-16 09:11:39

LOL

I still haven't finished..

This morning I have to sand and paint the skirting boards in the spare bedroom, but that's another story smile

My partner?

He made a cup of tea this morning and spilled the sugar all over the unit top and left it.......

..Now that i a man who believes in fairies

By the time we arrive at the airport tomorrow the fake tan will have dripped off my back into my shoes

Lona Sat 04-Jun-16 08:35:03

Hope you enjoy your trip nonniesunshine
What did your partner do? I'm in the sisterhood with Jane!
grin

Nana3 Sat 04-Jun-16 08:30:07

I'm ready too, but DH went 6 days before me (don't ask) and I can't get the hose pipe working and the garden is parched (grrrrr)

obieone Sat 04-Jun-16 08:21:26

It's worth it isn't it, but what a palava.

morethan2 Sat 04-Jun-16 06:47:34

I've rediscovered starch. It's fab for summer linen rich clothes and it makes ironing easier. I'm off on a 17 day tour of the peloponnese in just over two weeks so I'd better take a leaf out of your book nonny1 and get organised.

janeainsworth Fri 03-Jun-16 23:28:43

I can understand that the rest is absolutely essential nonnie but you starched and ironed your partner's shirts???????
You didn't think you'd get that past the sisterhood, did you?grin

jogginggirl Fri 03-Jun-16 23:21:39
