If there is a washing machine in the accommodation I'd throw clothes in there. It's not as though I would actually be washing them! I find my DH and I run through clean undies very quickly and it's handy to have some just out of the washer.

Yes, I do put stuff in a washing machine if we're self catering and usually do it overnight. It's not a big deal and saves on the washing when we get back.

That's what it's there for! And very useful if we've been doing a lot of walking or got muddy infinitely better than festering muddy clothes in a suitcase!

My youngest once came back from a few weeks in Thailand with a small backpack full of clean, ironed and sweet smelling clothes. He always has been keen on having everything washed, and said that there were plenty of laundries and they charged very little to do a kilo of laundry, so he used them, to support the local economy and to have clean clothes in that sweaty environment.

I prefer to wash when travelling, rather than lug huge cases of stuff around. I don't do it before I come home, though, I try to plan so that the last few days I use everything up and so I come home with a bag full of dirty linen.

I always take some travel wash, and wash underwear as I go along. I don't like the thought of dirty knickers lurking in a drawer somewhere. ( I don't know what that says about me!). Also, I have a habit of spilling things on my favourite items and like to get the stain out before it is too late, (possibly the effect of too much wine!). In hot countries, clothes dry quickly, so it's no bother. In this country it's more of a problem.

If I'm in the Uk and the holiday let has a washer & dryer. Then I do it the night before I go home. It's great to get home and there's no washing to do, especially when I'll be at work the next day

Absolutely not.... I take enough pants, tops etc for however long I am going away for. When I get back my kitchen looks like world war 3.

I wash out underwear as I go along but everything else comes home with me. I actually enjoy washing and like to see all our cheerful holiday clothes and towels on my washing line - that's if it's not raining! A CONFESSION - I enjoy holidays BUT I am always happy to come home after 2 weeks away. I know, I know I am weird but that's how it is.

Danni. So glad there is someone who feels like I do. I am always quite happy to come home again from holiday. Don't think its is weird, just like my home .

The only time I washed clothes on holiday, was when I went to Rome for 4 days with only hand luggage and was trapped there for 10 days by the volcano! I had to find a launderette and wash my few things.

We go somewhere hot for three weeks every February. I wash undies so I can reuse them but very rarely anything else. We just put dirty clothes in one of the suitcases to be unpacked in the utility room when we get home.

Depends on the type of holiday. If we are in a self catering cottage which has a washing machine I'll do a wash or two , especially if we have muddy walking stuff. If in sunny climes in a hotel I may rinse out occasional undies or swimwear, but not anything else.

Only if I go for 6 or 7 weeks to friends or send it to the hotel laundry if DH is sending a couple of shirts.

If we are staying in a cottage or villa abroad then yes I do the washing before I come home

We very very rarely stay in Hôtels- much prefer having our own villa or apartment, with a garden or balcony, and with a washing machine usually- and usually go for 2 weeks or more- so yes, I pack light and I do wash some things during our stay. We always use the smaller on board cases to put all the washing in, and keep anything clean in the in-hold case.

When we have visitors here- especially those who we know have to go back to work the day after their return home, we always offer for them to do their washing here- so they can go home and not to have to bother with it all. Just depends.

I go away with my Son and DIL every year and she cleans the place from top to bottom AND does all the washing before she goes home . I say every time that there is no need as cleaners come in after we leave but it falls on deaf ears . We get on very well so don`t want to make an issue of it but it does drive me mad .

I love doing laundry, I find it very relaxing, so I usually wash things when on holiday, so long as facilities are available. I am horrified by the thought of dirty clothes being sorted through at Customs - I would be mortified!
I was lucky enough to be treated to a posh cruise a couple of years back, and the cabin maid would take all the dirty clothes for washing, and return them within 4 hours - that was lovely, and she was such a sweet lady.
I was still glad to see my washing machine when I got home - maybe I should get out more!

Only if I was in a cottage in the UK and it had a washer/dryer otherwise a big fat NO lol.
