wirral what you are seeing in France has nothing to do with the EU regarding things like potholes and everything to do with the difference in the way they manage their economy.

I am voting remain. The utopian dream proselytised by Brexit is just that. Within the global economy no country can be sovereign or autonomous. It totally misunderstands reality. It will be disastrous if we leave, for many many reasons, with no possibility of re-entry. The young are the future, the vast majority of which have shown that they see themselves as part of Europe.

definately out. We should be able to deport undesirebles and not have to pay for their upkeep for years. Also with so few houses to go round our gc will suffer . Me, at 80yrs it will make no difference, Im doing it for my GC. Love them so much, I cant bear to see them having to rely on the EU. So many of the laws are good. Just watched Brexit The Movie on You Tube. I think it's worth a watch. It discusses the unaccountability of the thousands of nameless unelected bureaucrats, looks at the effect of the EU on UK fishing and manufacturing industry and dispels the myth that we need trade deals to survive. It also points out that the EU countries need us more than we need them when it comes to trade!

Yes I've never wavered . Stay in! I agree with Jane Ainsworth. I think th benefits outweigh the the disadvantages. Economically we are better in, and to have some unity in Europe over issues like climate change, refugee crisis, fighting terrorism etc, not to mention maintaining th peace is surely of enormous importance. All other arguments seem trivial to me.

Who can we turn to for good impartial information to inform us? Certainly not the politicians, they all have their own agenda in some way or another. Scaremongering on both sides is no help at all.

I don't think there is any way of telling now whether we would be better in or out after 23 June . However on balance whatever the benefits of being in, I am MORE afraid of that decision than the possibilities of what might happen if we leave.

A small group of countries with reasonably close economic status formed a common market all those years ago. Since then, countries with completely different, and ever worse economic status have been admitted and now we are being blackmailed by Turkey. Just how far can 'Europe' be stretched in the future?.

Unelected members vote on laws and rulings which impact on us even if that law or ruling does not affect the rest of Europe. (Who remembers just after joining the then common market their suggested ruling that Britain should not be allowed to grow and market Bramley apples? What ever did that have to do with anyone except Britain? Thankfully that one did fall by the wayside and we can still enjoy our Bramley apple pie! - but they did have the power to do it. An unimportant matter maybe, but the principle remains).

But there isn't unity within the EU. The refugee crisis has highlighted that. We weren't working together and we've had to get no EU Turkey to manage that region.Far right groups are springing up as protest all over the place.

Being in the EU hasn't prevented terrorism. The nature of the lone wolf terrorist means we are not fighting a body, but individuals. We've seen SO MANY terrorist atrocities in Europe of late. The EU as a body hasn't been able to stop them. They'll continue to happen whether we are in or out of the EU, sadly. I do think giving free movement over a huge landmass has made life easier for the terrorist.

WE don't need the EU to direct climate change initiatives. With the money we save we'll be able to highlight problems with our own campaigns.

We are an enlightened and educated land. We are not idiots who need guidance. We have our own scientists and researchers and the sharing of information will continue. Why wouldn't it? We share that sort of green info with the whole world. We do not have to be told what to do.

Sorry to disagree janeainsworth, I am a Scot first and a citizen of the UK second. I am in no way a European. I did not vote to join the union and will vote to leave it.

Reading your posts today has cheered me up enormously. Most of you speak absolute sense - and that is -what is good and right for the 'common man'

Most people have decided, a number haven't which I suppose is about what I expected. Though probably more that are undecided than I thought.

Not sure if it is worth getting into debates with people on a forum and in rl or not. And I havent read up on things about it, for a good while now.

I am for staying in. We are just struggling out of a recession. How can leaving the EU help out economy? The mere prospect of a referendum on membership sent the pound spiralling down. All the major car manufacturers, Toyota, Nissan, Honda and Ford have made large investment in Britain just because we are part of the Eu and are way into that market for them. Prospect of job losses there. Our European partners probably won't deal favourably with us if we exit and our previous trading partners like Australia and New Zealand all look closer to home to the Pacific market.
Yes, there is bureaucracy but you can't deny the good laws that have come from the EU like the protection of human rights and workers' safety. A lot of the silly laws that got so much media time were just myths, like crooked bananas.
Media coverage is very pro Brexit, thanks to the predominance of Murdoch papers and tax exiles owners so it is difficult to get an unbiased view. As for one of the leading Brexits, Boris Johnson, how come he left it to the midnight hour to declare his standpoint if the issue is so obvious to him now.
I don't feel Britain is any less Great being in the EU.

If you think back to '75 all the arguments voiced then are being recycled. We can't survive alone, the rise of Russia, the economy, jobs, etc etc. I was frightened the first time into voting in. I'm certainly not going down that road again. Basically this is communism. We are all dictated to by a faceless elite not elected by us. We have 1/28th of a seat in NATO,WTO,etc. which counts for very little and this morning have discovered that immigration from EU is now running at 2.2 million. Our Doctor's surgery has put up a notice that they are full, no places at children's schools or the dentist's, the hospital has been in special measures since 2014, and the local fields have notices saying "no to new builds". EU economy has flatlined, Cameron was doing deals with Serco while "negotiating" terms with EU and Der Speigal yesterday reported EU doing dirty deals with African dictators to stop immigrants coming. Really? Just what's the advantage in this?

I'm voting OUT. No wobbles, most definetly, I feel we need to do this for the sake of our children and grandchildren. I don't consider myself European, I'm English/ British and very proud of the fact. Nobody knows, what will happen if we stay or go. We are a proud, resilient nation, and need to get back to fighting for what we believe in. I believe we can do this !!!!

Too much scare mongering from the remain campaign. David Cameron stated that unless he could get a good deal for Britain, he would vote leave. He came away with no concessions whatsoever, yet wants Britain to remain in Europe.

The country is already overwhelmed with migrants from the EU (and other countries). Soon we shall see Turkey being allowed membership, and because of the UKs better wages, welfare and conditions, they will be heading this way.

Who is going to pay for all the housing, schools, NHS treatment needed? The whole social/economic structure of our country will change dramatically.

The UK has always been a pioneering nation, great explorers, inventors, etc, and in my opinion, we should regain our independence.

As a "leftie" I have really struggled with this as I do not like much of what the EU stands for, I believe it to be undemocratic and in particular I do not agree with its economic policies, but I will vote to remain in. The reason being Boris Johnson, Michael Gove et al and if we do come out I really fear for the future of this country under their leadership, and I suspect it will definitely not be the sort of place I shall want to live.

Personally, I think the scaremongering has been from the out campaign and the emphasis on immigration. It has been shown that immigrants have brought in more money than they take out. Our native population is ageing. The immigrants tend to be younger, of working age, and therefore tax payers rather than pension receivers. Yes, there may be some who rely on benefits but the majority are contributing to the welfare state.

Yes, I'll be voting to stay in. I've never wavered really, though I can see good arguments (and really stupid ones) on both sides of the divide. Both sides have done their share of scaremongering and it hasn't been to anyone's credit.

I am still against the referendum itself. We elect our parliament, for good or ill, to make informed decisions for us and I would prefer them to do so. The money and time spent on this campaign could have been better spent.

I've just spent a while tallying up the Remains, Leaves and Don'tKnow/Not Sayings on this thread. (Yes, I know I should get out more.) I am quite surprised at the results, which are as follows although don't shout at me if you check my figures and find I am not spot on!

However we are told that our age group are more likely to vote out while younger people will want to stay in. So there's hope (for me!) I'm quite worried about what will happen if we leave! It seems a retrograde step. My son works in a bank (sorry) and his colleagues are forecasting dire things if we leave.
