Have you made your mind up about the referendum?

Telegraph says that older people are now going to vote to stay in.

LOL, Last night the BBC/ITV (can't remember which) had a survey which showed the exact opposite. Hey ho, toss a coin.

DT is so biased it would say anything. We have read it for many years but regardless of our views we are shocked by it's stance.

I have just listened to the most grown-up interview I have heard about in/out by Steve Hilton on "Today". He made it clear that he didn't believe one side was all right and the other all wrong. I have been a leaning voter - leaning towards in, he is backing the out campaign. When he said he got 75% "out" on the test on his site Crowdpac I heaved a sigh of relief that this was not another interview where the interviewee proclaims his side it accompanied by angels and the other comes straight from the devil Those interviews are very tiresome and get us no further forward.

I did the test and got 77% in. I have not been prepared to say I was In or Out on this thread but 77% in feels very comfortable to me. If you want to do the test it is here.

Local news this morning ( we get the Welsh news here in France) says that Wales received more money from the EU last year than it paid in - £79 per person.

According to that GG I am 56% out.

I am 91% in - not surprising really - I really believe in being European and not isolationist -

I thought it was interesting too Gracesgran but am I being rather cynical saying it was free publicity for his business as you had to sign in to Crowdpac to get results? Anyway I was 76% 71% and 67% IN and 54% OUT on democracy. I would think no thinking person would be 100%.

Annsixty, IMO every newspaper and website is biased, stopped reading papers ages ago. The only news service I trust to any extent, is the BBC, and I'm sure there are those that will say that is biased, so please don't beat me up for my opinion, I'm not suggesting anyone else do the same.

AGrandtea we have a Humax box which is a free sat box and we get all the Free UK channels and it can be tuned to any local TV station you wish - in fact going through the channels we can get all the BBC1 and 2 channels and ITV etc. we have a similar box for French TV.

Not quite sure if the Barclay twins would want us to stay in or come out.

It didn't make much difference to my result the second time.

I presume they were to let them know how important or otherwise you thought the question was.

Months ago ( it seems ) we were informed every household in the country would receive a booklet stating the government's case for staying in the EU.Well, we have not received one , nor has anyone else in our neighbourhood .So this government can't even try and convince me to stay with information to my door.Good job I have the Internet , radio and television.These other mediums have convinced me to vote ' out'.

My personal view is that only people living in the UK should be able to vote on the EU referendum. I have noticed quite a few posters on the EU threads don't live here but are keen on the UK remaining in.
I am fed up with Cameron and his desperate scare stories. Vote Leave and get our country back.

Yes the vote should be (maybe it is) restricted to those resident in the UK. I also believe that older people like myself should listen to the younger population that will have to live with our decision. Both my children consider that Britain will be a better country for themselves and their children by staying in Europe.

Unlike some posters, I would not tell anyone how to vote, make your own decision.

The people who have been living outside the UK for 15 years or more no longer have a vote - but maybe the vote should be restricted to those who pay tax in UK - but this would I think discount some people living in UK and it would not be right to do that to them. I still pay tax in UK and so does DH despite living in the EU - we pay as much as when we were living in UK full time. We also pay tax in France because they have a different system with in reality no personal allowance therefore I think we are as entitled to vote as anyone else.
The result of the referendum may well affect us more too. If there is a Brexit there will be many UK pensioners living in EU who will need to return to UK as it is likely the reciprocal health schemes will cease making it necessary for everyone to pay 100% of costs which for many people will make it impossible. If a lot of houses go on the market prices are likely to drop and people will not be able to buy a home back in UK. This will of course have an impact on housing and the NHS as there will be a huge increase from people returning to UK and probably taking from the system. Not so good for UK.
Personally I think the UK should remain as I feel it is much better for the young people with all the opportunity it gives them and I do not want to see the UK have an extra couple of years of recession. Although that may not be a huge impact in the long term if it the recovers well it depends when in your life this sort of thing happens as to the long term impact it has on your life. For us if things worked out that we needed to return to the UK it would not really upset me as I would be pleased to be living nearer our family so it would be very much a swings and roundabouts situation and does not affect my feelings on the referendum. After all these years of integration I would hate to see UK once again on the outside.

Thank God it will be all over soon, then we can go back to argueing about other things!

And I'm sure life will go on much as it is now, whatever the verdict.
