Ouch, though Nanaandgrampy, do not as George W. said " misunderestimate" the pain of gout. When DH had cellulitis (suspected infective arthritis / suspected gout ) in his wrist he was in aggers, so if that is what gout is like, it's still v nasty.
Those cartoons about crusty colonels with their inflamed foot bound up in a massive bandage and propped up on a footstool while the butler serves their port and cigars, do sufferers a great disservice.

Alea DGS1, and therefore all subsequent DGC, had something called a tummy tub, which was rather like a bucket but ten times the cost, for 'dunking' newborns. They all loved it.

On another topic - DS2 has just got a new job working in the house we lived in when he was small. He will be working in our dining room. Very peculiar!!

kitty my dil had one of those tubs. I think it was used a couple of times before they got a baby bath! They also asked me to get a special dish with a division for 'topping and tailing'!
What a waste of money, but I never said a word!

Oh dear I have just caught up with this thread and noticed soop had apologised for having a 'senior moment' and saw your name as 'Grand Tea'. I have just done the exact same on another thread. . Sorry!

LOL, perhaps I was trying to be too clever with my word play. I thought it summed up me to a tee (that word again). G(in) in the morning and Tea in the afternoon. G&T may have been more accurate.

I cannot make up my mind whether to hang out washing or not- rain looks to be on the horizon.

I have a huge, large, ginormous, and every other adjective to describe this ugly bright yellow van which is parked outside my front door thus stopping every bit of light which had been trying to enter this house. It is also blocking my neighbour's path so I have no idea how he will manage to get to his car. I do not know who this idiot is but he does not live and is not working here. Have I got a right to light? I have no idea what is going on beyond this monstrosity. Rant over.

Perhaps he is trying to bring some sunshine into your life.

Builders! I am fed up of the builders who are working on a bungalow at the bottom of my drive obstructing it! And the noise and mess! It's been going on since Feb and another 16/52 to go! Grrr [

Alea Most of us lot will have gone through the trying, tiring first phase of parenthood. My third son never appeared to have had sufficient milk. I was so sore after a fortnight of him chewing on my nipples. With my first-born, I had too much milk. Breasts supported by two muslin nappies crafted into a classy sling. Extra milk expressed, collected by midwife and given to babes who benefitted. I did sleep-walk during the first month after his birth.
It's an enormous learning curve. You are doing the right thing. The parents know that they can rely on your support if and when they ask for it. for you, too.

NanaandGrampy As I was reading your post I thought sounds like gout. My late father suffered hellish pains with gout in his large toe. He had to have a cradle to keep the bedcovers from touching his foot. I hope that medication can help alleviate your husband's chronic pain.

Galen How inconsiderate of the builders. They could have waited until you were bobbing up and down on the ocean waves. Do you give them a withering look?

number I've taken another suitcase full of good clothing (mostly unworn and unsuitable for my lifestyle) to the Red Cross shop. The shop is well frequented. The staff are delightful. The window displays are eye-catching. I have NO need of new clothing. Please shout at me if you hear me say that I do.

X-Ray done and dusted. Ring GP for results in 7-10 days hence.

Two lots of washing done, hung out and brought in again, a border weeded, lawn cleared of dog poos (as I was in London yesterday and it rained on Wednesday), I make myself a coffee, bring 2 cushions out for a garden chair, and.........

Loving the news of the new babies - nothing can beat snuggling the soft little neck of a new baby. Congratulations to the Mums and Grans! (Well I suppose the Dads and Grandads should have a mention too)

We have been busy getting the garden into good order for the visit of my WI Gardening Group nest Friday. I am hoping the sun shines so we can sit outside and they can take it all in - such as it is! Not very big but it looks pretty now.

It's my choir concert tomorrow evening and I am feeling nervous as the final rehearsal on Wednesday evening was awful! Fingers are crossed that we rise to the occasion. We are doing it again on Wednesday evening next, at a different venue. Just hope we prove the old adage that if the dress rehearsal is bad then the performance will be a good one!

I wish that I had a decent singing voice. Sadly, I dare not torment anyone with my tone-deaf efforts. Sister Gabrielle (in my convent days) asked every member of the class to sing the scales...I was singled out and asked to please "not join in"...a bitter blow, from which I've not recovered. I was invited to join the choral speaking group. I liked that.

Time to log off. Cats lolling on the utility room mat. Rory has had such a stressful day. He's managed to sleep through almost all of it.

We have checked into our last stop with the family Disneys Beach Club where my daughter was married 5 years ago, so lots of memories.

Grampys gout is being tenacious and that's curtailing our walking but we have done lots of swimming today before Mummy and Daddy took the boys out clothes shopping.

Not something young Jackson was much impressed to hear !

The soop glad the X Ray is done and dusted now to wait for the results. In the days of instant banking you'd think some bright spark would have found an online way to speed up results !!

Your garden sounds lovely , ours is small and we are away at the wrong time of year to keep it nice but would love to see yours Gaga.

In terms of singing voice soop not only was I made choir conductor at school under strict instructions not to sing but on one memorable rendition of Nellie the Elephant whilst driving the little ones our Grandaughter told me firmly , ' stop singing Nana! It's horrible !!'. Out of the mouths of babes !!

My photos today were taken at the pool - the boys loved the shower as much as the pool . Then Cooper with his biscuit ...we all got a share - that boy is a messy one.

Just looking out over the garden at 9.30pm the sun had a final fling and turned the leaves golden, very pretty

I made myself a cup of coffee around 1pm and when I returned to the living room the van had gone. He does not live too locally because I have not seen it parked nearby. I live in a mews but the street off this has 1930's houses, many of which have been divided into flats so that does not help the parking situation.

A lovely day for clothes washing- I have nothing planned for the weekend so I could do some paper sorting and clothes removal (to a charity shop).

GranandGrampy those boys as always are looking so happy and relaxed. I can well imagine that clothes shopping had not been near Jackson's "to do " list today or any day. He is on his holidays after all.

Soop, glad you`ve got the x-ray over with, pity you have to wait so long for vthe results, especially as at hospital appointments that require an x-ray the doctor gets them straight away on his computer!
I`ve had to log back in here several times tonight, Mia has suddenly developed a yen to keep jumping onto my keyboard and each time she deletes everything!

Glad the van's gone Charley, there's a very large white van down my road that sometimes gets left outside this row. It's like being in a 'white out'!
NanaandGrampy those boys are very cute!

numberplease the reason that it takes so long is that the xray has to be seen by a radiologist and he makes the diagnosis re if there is a fracture or whatever. Unfortunately he has to look at so many and then the result has to be typed by the secretary, signed and then posted, it all takes time. Sometimes a diagnosis has to be discussed with the GP so the radiologist would then telephone but this is not normal practice.

Tara loves to sleep on the computer chair but there is not enough room for both of us so she has taken the hump and retired to bed.

Charleygirl, Mia still likes to sleep on the stairlift during the night, then takes umbrage if I have to move her to come down to the loo, she gets very vocal!
