I am up and about very early this morning as we are going away for a few days to the south coast. Will catch up with all the news on our return. Still got everything crossed Lona

It is so dark and miserable here- thankfully it is not as cold as yesterday. I must make an effort to go out before the monsoon weather starts again.

Its very quiet in here today. Have left some lemon and almond cake if anyone pops in later. Going out for a while as I feel more like me today, nowhere exciting, just Waitrose, but it's good to be escaping . Dismal day here, hope there's some somewhere.

I have checked the weather and apparently sunshine is not coming here, NW London until Sunday. I may emigrate. That cake is delicious-but at least it is calorie free so no worries.

I sometimes worry cornernan that all it takes to restore my equanimity, is a trip to Waitrose. If I have time for a free coffee so much the better.
Easily pleased.

Oh dear! I have a confession. I have had a rare melt-down moment on the phone. I returned from my ironing duties to find yet another letter from the hospital. It informed me that I have an appointment for the end of July in Glasgow with a new consultant.
I'm afraid that I burst into tears. I rang the number given for information. Lady asked me to contact the secretary of the first consultant (seen in November of last year.)
After listening to her and referring to the batch of letters that I've received concerning three different dates for the procedure under an anaesthetic, I found it impossible to continue. MacSporran took the phone and for 20 minutes he and the secretary went through the list of processes that I can only describe as being farcical.
The first consultant "fell pregnant" shortly after my appointment on Nov 11th. I'm pleased for her. She referred me to another consultant. He then needed to add my name (along with all her patients) to his already over-burdened list. My doctor became anxious and re-referred me. I've now to ignore the latest letter. It was described as being a "red herring"...the secretary of the first (now pregnant) consultant, is taking up my case. She agrees that I have every right to feel utterly frustrated with the system.

I'm so sorry to GO ON like this but I need to let off steam. I know that you lot won't fall out with me.

Oh dear soop I feel your pain and frustration. Our NHS is really crumbling. I hope it all gets sorted for you.

I had a scary incident with my eyesight this lunchtime which sent me scurrying to my optician. My sight suddenly became jagged and sort of pixilated and I only had tunnel vision. It only lasted about five minutes but it was quite frightening.
I had a very thorough sight test and lots of scans and it seems that it was a sort of 'blip'. There was a long name but blip is easier to spell!
Nothing to worry about anyway.

Oh soop I am so pleased that MacSporran was around to take over the phone. You want the procedure over and done with as soon as possible, not the world and his wife changing dates.

The first consultant should have had more consideration not to "fall pregnant" until your procedure had been done, you checked out in OPD and then discharged.

I do hope that Andy wins. He has had a rough time with long matches.

Lona that was frightening- pleased that your optician could fit you in and I hope that you are okay now. You have to look after yourself, you have a lot of work ahead, sooner rather than later I hope.

Hello lovely Kitcheners I'm feeling just a tad better. Thank you for your support. It helps to let off steam (with people who understand) on fraught occasions.
The thing that really tipped me over the edge, was that it was another consultation. Not the procedure that I've been told I'm to have. At that rate, I would possibly not have the procedure until the end of the summer. That would have been a wait of almost a year. Hells bells and hey ho (as bags would say.)

Lona That was a scary moment when your eyesight behaved erratically. You did right to refer yourself to the optician. Phew! We all need to tuck into lemon and almond cake.

Charleygirl It was a very exciting match. Andy triumphed eventually.

Bellasnana and Galen us lot are rooting for you. I'm feeling excited and I'm not going on a boat.

Soop That is pretty s**tty treatment by NHS. You are along way from Glasgow, and cant traipse along at be seen at a whim

Do you still have a dedicated Dr in your surgery or is it populated by shoe ins, [temporaries.]

You still have Mc C and the beautiful sunsets, food for the soul but not the body.

Galen Please may I consult you on another wee health matter. Recently had X-ray because my bones "hurt". This afternoon GP phoned with results of blood tests. Vit D and Calcium deficiencies noted. I'm to have supplements. I asked - would the sore bones perhaps be linked to the deficiencies. I was told, no. Google says otherwise. Also, the bowel problem is linked to excessive mucous. This was also mentioned when I printed out symptoms of deficiency. Sorry to be a pain in the backside, but your medical expertise could help me to understand what's going on. PS Fibromyalgia was also mentioned in the Google blurb.

What a horrible experience Lona, it must have been very scary. I'm glad you were able to see the optician so quickly and that he made sure it was nothing serious. I was just feeling chuffed for you because (fingers still crossed) the sale seems to be progressing smoothly.

Once years ago, (just realised that it was over 45years ago!) I had taken my young son to the local hospital eye clinc and when they couldn't find his records and were sending us from pillar to post and being very unhelpful. I burst into tears in the waiting room.
Very unlike me, I hated making a fuss in those days. I can only think it was because I'd not long got over flu. Anyway it changed the whole situation, they calmed me down, cups of tea were offered and he was seen by the consultant straight away. I think officious staff sometimes need reminding that they are dealing with human beings and not just numbers.

Tizliz The bush definitely isn't winter jasmine,we had that in the garden in England so I would recognise it. I think that you and Bags are right and it is Broom. Thank you both . I thought that Broom had prickles like Gorse but having done a quick Google, I realise it doesn't. I've just walked up the road to have another look and all its flowers are over now. By the way, I am presuming the sign that it is climbing all over, is prohibiting hunting. There hasn't been any hunting in the valley for 20 years at least and yet the birds are still very shy and nervous.

Lona I've recently experienced something very similar, which lasted a couple of days. Eyes checked and healthy, so like you, it was considered a blip. Disconcerting, to say the least! Glad all is well.

I did wonder if it might be stress related.......
