A lovely name Alea. He really is a lovely baby. I always liked the idea of a little copper nob for a gc. Not too far fetched as my Mum had lovely auburn hair, but it wasn't to be.

cornergran I used to decorate cakes for friends weddings etc. About the only artistic talent I had too. We moved to a house with a smaller kitchen and I never took it up again.
It was a very sticky hobby.

It's hot hot hot here today. Yesterday was the family golf championships where there were great highs and lows! Jackson won ( although Grampy's scoring was a bit dubious!) . Mummy lost her ball in the lake and Daddy could not be persuaded to retrieve it due to potential Alligators! Cooper had a total meltdown much to Mummy's dismay.

The reward for winning was a ride on a surreywith a fringe on top !!

These pictures are due to six years of patience. I planted my wisteria in late 2010 and this is the first really good flowering. They are known for taking a long time to get going.
I was so pleased to see how well it has bloomed this year. It will need a little more work to get more flowering going on all the shoots around the frame but it's done me proud this year.

Our wisteria is bomb proof !. we had to dig it up as it was where we wanted our summer house. Tried to bonsai it, but it failed to transplant . A couple of years later a small shoot appeared from under the summer house, where it gets moisture from heaven knows. Now it covers the summerhouse and is in full bloom. fantastic fragrance.

That is fabulous nelliemoser. We inherited a wisteria with this house 20 years ago, it flowered the first summer after we moved in - and never again! It used to send triffid like tendrils in through the windows and you would wake up with them round your neck, so I tried cutting it back and that was the end of it

I love the name Flynn, it brings to mind a handsome hunk, and he's already handsome!

I've noticed that people can be so ungrateful and rude Charley, don't let it get to you. They don't deserve any help or advice!
That's what is so nice about our Kintyre kitchen, it's a safe haven, and the cake is really good!

I've a wisteria growing up around my back door, it smells heavenly, grows like a triffid and makes a terrible mess when the flowers and leaves drop, but I love it.

Keep going with the watercolour soop, you always get there in the end!

Forgot to mention that my dd's ex psycho, who has caused more misery and anguish in my family than I care to think about, has finally been arrested! Some justice at last! Hopefully just the beginning of his karma.

In my experience karma can sometimes be a long time coming but arrives in the end. I always feel guilty when I talk about karma as it seems I am being judge and jury but WHAT a good feeling when someone we love has been affected.

Like wot I am also sharing and enjoying your holiday NanaandGrampy. The boys appear to have been very good for so long so may be Cooper was allowed 60ne6 total meltdown. In a way it was better that it happened when mum was around. I will be so sorry when they all come home.

I am attempting unsuccessfully to get my mental act together having not long crawled out of bed, because I am meeting a GN for coffee in 90 minutes and I would hate to describe the state of me. We get on so well and time flies by. Usually 4 of us meet but one has decided to take a holiday with family, how inconsiderate and the other is working, again, could have arranged that a bit better!!!! I think that it is now around 2 years since we decided to meet up locally.

Lona I am trying not to eat any cake- I am aware that it is calorie free but I have to think of my teeth.

I also did not reply to her rude comment. I do not think that she will stay with GN- others may give her a run for her money, I cannot be bothered- if she does not want my professional expertise, tough, her hard luck.

I have to pop off fairly soon to feed our pal's three yippy-yappy dogs and let them out into the garden. Then, at 3:30, repeat the exercise.

In the meantime, inbetween time, I'm about to tackle a newly sketched portrait. Oh the bliss of having a fresh start (and oodles of hope in my heart.)

soop they claim they are the smallest library in Scotland, are they stepping on your village's toes!

Tizliz As we were walking past the village kiosk library this morning, a lady stopped to speak to us. Vandals (teenagers) had emptied the honesty box. They had also pulled up the flowers that the schoolchildren have been tending around their playground. Several people know who those responsible are. We know who they are. The vandals have been excluded for a school in another area. The damage has been reported. It makes you want to weep.

One painting shows promise. The second will go into the bin. I shall therefore sketch anew sometime this evening. All good practice and, dare I say, character-building.

soop what a shame about the vandals. I am sure that they are known as they would be here, can't get away with much in a small Scottish village! What do you do about it?

It is a bit like the thread on dog biting - it is the owners/parents who are really to blame. I know that we gave too much attention to our daughter and let our son get on with his own life and inevitably he went off the rails (he is OK now).

I think your character may very well be set by now and you can't build on it but good luck with the next version.

It's lovely to have you on our holiday wot and Charley ! Today you can be part of our ' Family of the Day' ! Young Jackson was invited by the lifeguards ( as we were first to the pool) to look for Capt Hooks treasure. When he found it we got to keep it and were named Family of the Day ! The treasure was 2 rubber duckies, pirate bandanas all round and a beach ball! Our boys acted like they had been given the Crown Jewels!!

They only have a couple of days left with us so we had a character breakfast without mummy and daddy this morning where we met Minnie, Donald and Goofy !!

Jackson proclaimed it BEST DAY EVER!!

I've been away since last Wednesday and so much has happened to so many of you. I'm pleased to hear that Aleas GS has such a splendid name. As for your village vandals, soop, I can't put in print what I think of them - and their parents who surely are responsible for them. Lona, good news about your DCs' new partners but sorry to hear that the scumbag was allowed to go scot free. So unfair. I have had a very cultural break in Scotland - Don Giovanni on Thursday; folk gig with famous duo, Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham which was rousing and hilarious too. Then yesterday there was an orchestral concert by the RSNO. On Friday we had a drive around Fife and the obligatory ice cream in St Andrews - there's more to it than the University!

Tizliz I make the same mistake over and over again. I tiddle and "muddy" what promises to be a pleasing painting. I've held the board (on which the portraits are taped) under the shower. Believe me, the clear water can redeem some of my errors. We shall see how things appear a little later.

I've rather a lot of ironing to do before mealtime. I therefore have to log off. Tomorrow morning is visit to care home day. I shall return to catch up as soon as I return. Enjoy a pleasant evening.

So sorry to hear about the vandals Soop, I hope it wasn`t me putting a bad spell on it with my remarks last week?
We`ve had yet another murder in the town, and once again the victim, and probably the perpetrator, is East European. It`s alright some folk saying they`re only offing their own kind, but what if some well meaning passer by tries to intervene in one of these fights, and gets stabbed for their trouble? These people, and I`m not being racist, never have been, they carry knives as a matter of course, it`s normal to them, that`s how they settle their arguments.
