It's a glorious day in bonnie Kintyre. We've been out walking and enjoying the colours, sights, smells and sounds of Nature.
It is lovely to catch up with you lot...and, Gaga I knew that you would give a good performance. Wednesday's performance will be approached with a spring in your step.

I must attempt to start the portrait. It is a scary moment when the first wash is applied. I shall tell you how I'm getting along a little later this afternoon.

Good news about the new parents 'Alea*, even if still no name. Guess as long as they are content we shouldn't be impatient even if we are . They sound to be doing really well, hospital can be stressful I think.
Been trying to get the germinated bird seen out of the garden today. Loosing battle I think. Good job I love the birds. Though I have spoken to them firmly today, if they keep 'decorating' my garden swing seat they are on starvation rations.

Sitting down with tea and biscuits now before cooking our roast. DH is positively excited as there will be rhubarb crumble, I really dislike rhubarb so it's a rare treat for him. So rhubarb for him and strawberries for me after our roast chicken. Looking forward to it now

Just popping in to say...portrait is not going well. I think that I should try to paint in oils or acrylic. Watercolour is fine for still life and scenery and such. A baby's face has few planes. I'm struggling with the flatness that an hours work has produced. May pop painting under the shower. Sometimes, not always, a good result gives me confidence to continue. 
Glad that relationships are going well with your DD and DS Lona. Its something we have no control over yet it is so vital.
Alea I'm sure your DDs cherish and nurture their husbands in return.
I am very lucky with my SiLs too. Apart from health issues for one, I wouldn't change a thing about them.

We have a name - Flynn it is!
Apparently it means "son of the red-haired one" which fits SIL!
Wish I could paint - anything - or indeed had any sort of artistic talent 
. I used to be a dab hand at cake icing, enjoyed it and had some excellent outcomes, but rheumatism and other issues have left me without the strength in my hands, hey ho, make the best of what I have.
soop sorry you are struggling with the portrait, sure it will come right, like dusty I learned something about water colours - you wouldn't be pulling our legs?
Know what you mean Charleygirl, I did something similar on a thread, not via pm, and had some difficult comments, like you I was offering the benefit of professional experience gained over far too many years. All we can do is try, if others won't listen then that is their choice I guess, but I felt diminished by some comments and now protect myself. My way of saying I hide in here.

dustyangel Paintings have had a shower. Not much improvement. Am about to re-sketch. Tomorrow is another day. I shall succeed...eventually.
GandTea I do have some watercolour pencils. however, I try very hard not to use them. I am a long way away from throwing in my arty-farty hat. If nothing else...I'm a determined creature.
Time for G&T and a read of the Sunday newspaper. Treat-time with ice-cubes on.

Flynn is a lovely name Alea. It's always good when you can be genuinely enthusiastic about a name. Doesn't always happen.
I am grateful that the kitchen exists too. It is lovely to know that there is somewhere one can be sure of kindness as there is quite a lot of tension on other threads And one picks up really useful tips in here too - showers and paintings being one such.
I am typing this lying on my hotel bed having had a little snooze after a tasty lunch and . I will soon be going for dinner and growing to look like the side of a house if I keep this life style up so, tomorrow, it's out for a brisk walk.
Alea, glad they`ve settled on a name, Flynn is a lovely name for a lovely baby.
Charleygirl, as for the 47" TV, there wouldn`t be room in here for it, we`re at the maximum we can have, 32", but in his bedroom, which is only 11` x 7`, he is only concerned with his game, so as long as there's room for the telly, everything else can go hang! And as long as he keeps the game up there, I DON`T CARE!!
Soop, your pics keep making me homesick, as though I was born and raised in Kintyre, I miss the place so much, and it`s worse because I don`t think we`ll ever get up there again
Kitty, you should enjoy the food when it is offered, you can go for a walk any time
Just returned from a Warners hotel, after a 5 day break, must get back to healthy eating, perhaps tomorrow.
