Summer holiday clothing

I'm going away for a week to a sunnier clime in June.

I tend to buy the cheapest clothes for these holidays abroad as they are dispensable. Clothes from places like ASDA are ideal, and can be either used again or sent to charity. I find they are also light as the material is cheaper so I can stuff more into my suitcase.

I do buy the odd really lovely item for evening wear, but the cheaper shorts, tops, trousers and bikinis are so nice these days, it's a shame not to.

There was a time when i only bought more expensive things for going away, but not any more. It's wasteful when you can only wear them at home for such a short time and then they become 'last season', and you maybe wear them again to justify the expense.

The only drawback to wearing the cheaper items is seeing other ladies wearing the same thing, but I have got to an age now where I don't care !

Does anyone else do the same?

No. I want to feel very special on holiday and like to look back at old holiday photos with me in my posh clothes. So it's designer stuff from John Lewis for me.

I've just bought 4 dresses 2 tunics and a linen shirt and a sleeveless blouse for the Summer in Sainsburys and Next the whole lot cost less than £100. Very cheap but reasonable quality and lots for my money as I just got the interest from my ISA and thought blow it I'm just going to treat myself to a few new bits for the Summer.
I agree with you Nonnie1 I don't care either..

I've just been to Asda and bought a few things for going away next week ... their clothes are actually very nice now and so cheap what does it matter that they don't last?
I love their linen mix crop (or not crop, whichever you prefer!) trousers, and they have loads of nice tops. I have a beach dress from there that I've had for many years and would have done this holiday too but for me finding a new one today for only £8. grin

I do buy from more expensive shops when the smarter look is required, but for every day casual wear Asda can't be beaten in my opinion! I liked Tesco too but now don't live anywhere near one. sad
