You enjoy it Katek you deserve it. You have worked hard for lots of years and are still doing so with your family etc so enjoy every minute you share with your bag. Take it with you on spa days, to the hairdressers, out to lunch etc. Make it your "I'm going out to treat myself bag" so that you remember to take special time out just for yourself and recharging your batteries and spoiling yourself. I do it, life is hard so a little pampering doesn't do us any harm at all.
I looked at this in the store yesterday and was very tempted for a wedding I'm going to in Sept - it's really pretty. Enjoy it - we all deserve a treat
You're correct Teetime, it's not been a terribly good start to the year between one thing and another, although I think we've turned a corner in some things. I shall cherish my bag as my reward for stoicism - if not sheer bloody mindedness!!
Yes lully we have KatyK and katek! Apologies for any confusion!
The bag stays! You're right, a lot of us have spent time putting others' needs first, now it's the dgc whom I would happily have spent the same amount on. Must work harder on undoing a lifetime of conditioning!
I love Katek's bag and also the carpet bags shysal has but too expensive for me. I recently bought a Signare tapestry bag in a William Morris design that I love and am pleased with that, it's much cheaper, you can see lots of designs on Amazon.
Katek it looks very pretty and it is also functional so it is nothing to feel guilty about. I hope you will thoroughly enjoy it!
Why ever do we beat ourselves up about things like this? morethan says she has spent a good deal of her life doing without and I have done that too as no doubt have many others. In retirement it is obviously 'our' time and so long as we don't go mad and go beyond our means we shouldn't feel guilty. The problem is that so many of us have brainwashed ourselves into taking only what we absolutely need and what is left after everyone else has been catered for. I am working very hard on not feeling or behaving in that way any more!
Lovely bag! Throw caution to the wind. It's summer and it's a handbag - it'll definitely get used, won't it? Not like an expensive pair of summer sandals from last year that are still languishing at the back of my wardrobe...
After reading a thread on here I bought a carpet bag from this company. I am embarrassed to say that I have never used it, although I love it. I don't often buy on impulse. www.carpetbags.co.uk/product-category/handbags-purses/
We're at an age when we should be able to buy ourselves somthing we love. I spent a good deal of my life doing without. Your right the bags is lovely and summery you'll get your money's worth.
Feeling guilty......just bought a very pretty handbag online at Debenhams, lovely summery colours/pattern with butterflies as well. Why am I feeling like I should send it back?? Just loved it and bought it, not my usual considered self.
