How do you get motivated?

Today I'm feeling lazy and am not keen to get up and do anything! Spent much time trawling through Gransnet and must say I'm pleased to see that perhaps the threads on the EU referendum and Tesco are coming to an end!! Fed up with the cold weather and don't feel like going out in the garden.
Do you have a recipe for inducing motivation?

I'm in my pyjamas still. blush

I don't need motivating though as I've had a particularly busy week and the coming week looks much the same. I've written a report this morning, had a long chat with my foster son who is in Taiwan, (he's coming to visit me in June - yippee!!) and later my daughter and her family will arrive for a pit-stop on their way home from a few days holiday, so it's not exactly an idle day. smile

Not at all well with the grey skies we have had in Cheshire for the last couple of weeks. It is forecast to rain soon so I am deterred from getting dressed down to do gardening.

Tudorrose please take heart in the fact that I was diagnosed with PD over 4 years ago but have not let it get me down. Like you I have a great husband and 6 grandchildren. My 2 daughters have always needed some childcare help - even more so since the surprise arrival of twins 17 months ago! I still help out and they don't seem to realise I have PD. I think positivity is the answer and reading all the blogs on Facebook and Twitter. Also follow The Cure Parkinson's Trust and Parkinson's UK.

Family is the main support group - be open but don't dwell on it.

I'm 72 , Victoria08, and DH frequently accuses me of laziness, i.e. spending too much time on GN, on line, reading etc. Have had some brushes with poor health, but our amazing NHS has saved me every time and I'm very, very lucky to be active. I have frequent very lazy days, and am not a lover of housework, although I do it, in as little time as possible. Since my cataract op. I can, unfortunately, see dirt more clearly and also lines on face!

Forgot to say flowers and wine to all those who, for all sorts of reasons, are feeling low and are physically prevented from doing things they would like to.

Just go with the flow! I do. Makes for a more relaxed time.

i tend to suffer from depression and it might only take one small thing to bring me down. When I'm down, nothing is right and the feeling compounds into despair if I am not careful.

Luckily I know I am like this so what I do to bring myself round is to look at what needs doing and then make a list.

Each job gets a tick and then on to the next one. Before you know it I m on a roll and looking for jobs to add to the list.

Sadly I know this feeling will not last but I maximise on it until it ends.

Then I start all over again.

Hope this helps someone. I suffer from OCD also so the list making is a part of my make-up, but it is a great help when I'm feeling low.

I have a garden swing and an umbrella on my south facing balcony. I have been known to take my morning tea, iPad, water bottle and mobile out there and not come inside, except for potty breaks , for most of the morning! No guilt at all! That's what retirement is all about!
(But when I absolutely have to get down to stuff......lists help me too!)

Mornings are my best time to be motivated. I am 64 years old and, in the mornings, I don't really notice getting older. I dash around, shopping, decorating, washing, cooking etc. but, by the afternoon, I am looking for a nap.

I go to bed early but tend to read or watch tv so don't sleep right away. Sometimes I can't wait for the morning to come to get on with something.

I always have to have a little project going on, right now it is decorating our garden room, trying to spend as little as possible. I get a kick out of rediscovering old fabrics etc. and can still get quite excited when I think about what to make.

NannaM, that looks a lovely spot. That's what I try to create too, lots of little places I can relax in for a change of scene, a cuppa and a good read.
