Having just been tempted to purchase a new pair of shoes, much to my OH's bewilderment , I wondered how many pairs of shoes other people have. Don't think I will confess until I see if others are as bad. How many pairs to you have and how many do you actually wear?

I don't have enough pairs of shoes mainly because I only take size 2. They're not easy to find!

Although a couple of weeks ago I bought a pair of Ugg slippers from John Lewis. They were expensive to buy, and I daren't wear them. I just sit looking at them and stroking the fur.

1 pair muck out boots
1 pair trainers
1 pair running shoes
1 pair town shoes
1 pair slippers

My initial reaction was "hardly any" then I started counting. - 1 newish pair for best - 1 oldish pair for everyday - 1 pair sandals - 1 pair ankle boots - 1 pair walking boots and 3 pairs of slippers received as presents over various Christmases. So, quite a few !

Anyone who has Hotter shoes that break up take them back, they will replace them as long as you can prove purchase (easy if you bought them online).

Two pairs of ankle boots
Three pairs knee high boots
One pair fit flops
One pair ancient Eccos worn every day
One pair ancient Birkenstocks for going out to the bins
One pair navy and red spotted Mary Janes never worn
One pair red patent flatform sandals worn often in summer
One pair black patent with pink roses clumpy flats never worn
One pair shocking pink suede flats never worn
Cream fabric wedges
Several pairs very cheap espadrilles worn in summer
One pair rubber riding boots, worn as wellies these days
One pair mucker boots for gardening
One pair black dancing clogs! I used to do it.

Can't remember any others and can't be bothered to go and check
I never wear shoes indoors, just socks in winter and bare feet in summer.
No slippers.

Not as many as I would like as I don't wear leather and there is not much choice out there for us veggies!
However the ones I have, I love! 4 pairs of boots.
1 pair of strurdy hiking boots.
I pair Converse sneakers
1 pair trainers.
2 pairs sandals
6 pairs of court shoes
I pair ballroom dance shoes.

Well, I said I didn't have many but er...actually that's quite alist isn't it! grin

libra10, I have the same problem, walking into a shoe shop is a no-no, they just look at you with either pity or amazement and possibly offer you a childs shoe, urrgh!! And...do you ever get "I wish I had small feet, you're so tiny!" Well, actually you wouldn't, it's a damn nightmare trying to find something to wear and there are times you just buy any old rubbish just because it's your size. I couldn't get a pair of shoes for my sons wedding, ended up wearing an old pair that pinched like mad. It must be sheer luxury to walk into a shop and point to a pair of shoes and say, "I'll have those, please."

My dear OH has fourteen pairs of very nice shoes under his side of the bed:- Loakes, Barkers, high end boats shoes and so on. Some are many years old and all of them are beautiful because he looks after them so well. Mine are fewer new and cheaper but his self indulgence gives me permission to buy my cheapies and move on when I have worn them thin.

I have two pairs of boots, two pairs of Chelsea boots, loafers, lace ups, leather and all weather walking boots, two pairs of fancy heels for winter and ditto summer and two pairs of dolly flats. I have not paid full price for any of them though they are all very 'nice'.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 23-Apr-16 20:57:05

I buy up every pair of old style fitflop lace-ups in my size that appear on ebay, because they are the only shoes I know for certain I can comfortably wear. The new ones are more stylish, and the leather is hard and uncomfortable. I need to collect enough pairs to keep me going until I pop them. It's hard to know when to stop.

TerriBull Sat 23-Apr-16 22:20:30

Mine are slung all over the place, two pairs of beige court shoes with heels, one which is a toeless type in the back of my car, cos I also wear Fitflop flat sandal shoes in the summer, but I don't like driving in flats, so I change for driving. A pair of trainers in my sports bag. At least three pairs of ankle boots in the hall which I'm wearing mostly at the moment because it's still winter as far as I'm concerned. My favourtie of these is a pair of nubuck leather Chelsea boots good for walking and reasonably stylish. Two pairs of long boots, and another pair of ankle type biker boots and my old trainers in the garage which we use strictly for storage and not for cars, another dozen or so shoes in my wardrobe in a suspended shoe storage thingy these include summer wedges, flat ballet type pumps, espadrilles, a couple of high heels which I hardly every wear anymore. I don't know how many I have all in all. Enough though.

couldn't possibly spare the time to count but I would say in excess of 70. Not embarrassed in the least. love shoes - used to buy a pair a month, but no longer need to. But despite not being able to wear high heels anymore and the onset of bunions I cannot bear to get rid of my lovely 80s collection of Russel and Bromley shoes, am now a fan of Hotter.

Jaxie Sun 24-Apr-16 08:51:28

I shall start a new thread: watches. I have ugly mannish hands so don't wear rings or bracelets. But I have at least eight watches in compensation.

bartonlady Sun 24-Apr-16 08:57:27

I have 200 pairs plus! I never throw shoes away. They are all in boxes, labelled and stacked on tops of wardrobes etc. Some I will never wear again, but can't get rid of them!

EvaMay1s3 Mon 25-Apr-16 02:47:49

One question, Where do you keep them all?

UkeCan61 Mon 25-Apr-16 06:53:35

Forgot my wellies! Love 'em! :-)

watermeadow Mon 25-Apr-16 19:09:22

200 pairs???
I have wellies
Dog-walking boots
Crocs for gardening
Emu boots
1 pair flat best shoes
1 pair canvas shoes

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 25-Apr-16 19:15:07

For goodness sake! Anyone with tens of pairs of shoes - take them to a charity shop, now. What must your houses be like, stuffed to the gills with old unused stuff? confused

sunseeker Mon 25-Apr-16 19:31:13

3 pairs court shoes
3 pairs flat shoes
2 pairs sandals
1 pair evening shoes

My weakness is handbags, I have at least 30 and friends drag me away from handbag shops when we are out! On a recent holiday I bought 4 bags!!

Tegan Mon 25-Apr-16 19:32:55

I always think that I'll be able to wear some of my shoes again and am always buying shoes that I think I can wear but can't. Got boxes of them. Used to buy one sort of Nike trainer only for them to suddenly start hurting so switched to another one [which I now live in, along with Crocs]. Having spent so much on them over the years I can't bear to give them away sad.

Tegan Mon 25-Apr-16 19:38:06

...and still think that, one day I'll be able to walk in heels.....

Iam64 Mon 25-Apr-16 20:35:00

I have more shoes currently than I ever have before. My feet are ageing more quickly than the rest of me I fear. I have feet that roll inwards so I wear orthotics which limits the joy of buying shoes. Sometimes I need half a size bigger, or even a size bigger when the inflammatory arthritis is playing up. So I have:

1 pair walking books size x
1 pair walking boots size x plus 1
1 pair walking trainers size x
1 pair walking trainers size x plus 1

One pair hotter trainers for walking in town
One pair Echo leather shoes for day to day wear
One pair doctor martins shoes (10 years old and still a glory, so comfortable)

I pair (very) low heel flat shoe bought for Christening 10 months ago
1 pair flitflot shoes ideal for looking nice but not walking very far
1 pair brand spanking new John Lewis shoe with slight raise along sole - the only shoe my mother would see as remotely suitable for a woman (i.e. not very comfortable, certainly can't walk any distance but if I'm invited somewhere a bit more formal, I'd look very nice in them)

1 pair aged Merrill walking sandal with old orthotic glued into the sandal so I can expose the feet during the odd spell of decent weather

1 pair very posh wellies, gift from son in law for looking after his dog.

I feel extremely extravagant - oh I forgot

pair heels bought for daughter's wedding 3 years ago, not worn since

Two pairs brogues; one black, one silver.
One pair trainers.
Three pairs boots, one with a hole.

DaphneBroon Thu 25-Aug-16 09:17:27

I am only slightly ashamed of the number of shoes I have. Like tegan says, you can buy the perfect pair only for them suddenly to start hurting and contrariwise shoes "rediscovered" have been known to suddenly become wearable.
But suitably chastened by even contemplating them, a bag will be made up for the charity shop within the week. Most are in excellent nick, often hardly worn especially boots which I have a weakness for, but actually don't often wear confused
Oh I used to think shoes were good because, unlike clothes, you stayed the same size.
Not true sad
