My DD began home schooling her children after Christmas. Her two middle sons are on the autistic spectrum, and were not coping in school. DGS 3 is three years old and has been watching his brothers on the computer, and sitting with mum as she teaches DGS 2 who is five, to read. Yesterday they were out shopping, and were passing a large coffee shop outlet, DGS3 wriggled away from her and ran towards the entrance saying " mummy, mummy, look C, O, S,T A," spelling out the letters, and then, triumphantly announced "it's Costa". My DD was so proud of him. She knew he was beginning to recognise his letters, but had no idea he could put them together to form words. An elderly gentleman was standing close by and asked how old he was. DD told him " he's three". The gentleman was amazed, "what a clever boy" he said.
Needless to say, Granny is proud too!
