which is 13 weeks after she was given 2 days to live.confused

Apparently she is rather better than a couple of weeks ago - in fact well enough to tell the visiting vicar to s*d off. blush

You do make me smile kitty! I can just imagine Patricia Hayes (of Edna the Inebriate Woman fame) playing your Mum. She sounds a real character. wink

grin ..... Yes, Gagag or Maggie Smith!

I think mum would prefer being played by DAME Maggie Smith. grin

Amazing isn't it. I'm always suspicious of these prognoses - humans have a way of confounding medical science. flowers

arghhh - she will probably go when you least expect it. Enjoy you life and don't get bog down by it all- go away for a few days- whatever- really.

My gran did this for YEARS - and I spent nearly 12 years jumping on planes as mum was truly at the end, according to OAP home staff- but she always rallied round. In the end she died as we were preparing our move here- and I wasn't there to hold her hand.

Tough on you- but don't let it stop you from living your life xxx

my mum was compus mentis though, but very very frail and totally dependent.

Sounds just like my mum, kitty. She sailed on for 16 months after she was put on end of life care.

We moved her to a nursing home that could better care for her needs.....The first thing they did was wheel her up the road to the coffee shop so she could enjoy a large slice of chocolate gateau! grin

My grandmother summoned the family to her bedside because her body was failing GP said she was fading away, she lived another twelve years. She moved from her flat into the home of an uncle and aunt and from there to a care home and even to a second care home. She lived to see me get married and attended the wedding dressed in all her finery, she didn't get to see her first great grandchild born but she didn't do too badly as I was ten when she announced she was dying.

We lost count of the number of final calls we had when my MIL was dying. She was terminally and but we were summoned to her bedside by other members of the family several times only to all sit around for hours watching her sleep. Particularly difficult as we lived over an hour away. She'd then wake up and announce she fancied French onion soup or Yorkshire pudding for tea. She finally passed away in her own time on her own which was how she'd always wanted it.
