I have a living room.
I have a couch.
I have a lavatory.
I use napkins.
I eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I love Disney things/films. We didn't have tv growing up (my mum thought it was common....joke) but we used to see the Disney films at the cinema.

Ana Sun 03-Apr-16 19:20:49

Isn't it Disney though? So it would be in American-speak grin

whitewave Sun 03-Apr-16 19:12:42

Snow White called it supper

whitewave Sun 03-Apr-16 19:10:32

I'm watching Snow White first time I have watched it since I saw it as a young child - delightful!

That old U and Non-U thing had my mother utterly convinced! These terms were initially intended by Nancy Mitford as a joke but many people took them seriously; society in the 1950s was still intensely class-conscious. I don't care whether my evening meal is my tea or my dinner, as long as it's edible. However, we were brought up having our high tea at around 5.30 when Dad got home from work.Nobody around us had dinner parties. Rather like the Americans, my Mum used to refer to 'going to the bathroom' which was indeed accurate even when we weren't having a bath. I don't think 'loo' was commonplace in the 1950s.

I'm going off to write my lines with 3 pencils at a time. Then I shall go and have a wee wee in the loo!

Marelli Sun 03-Apr-16 18:56:58

Don't worry about it, wot! smile I've just had my tea - on my knee in front of the telly with a bit of kitchen roll as a napkin.
This was in the living room which is so tiny that there's no room for a settee.
Toilet/loo is actually bigger than the living room, (doesn't have a settee in it, although there is room for one). grin

Ana Sun 03-Apr-16 18:54:58

Serviettes anyone? grin

whitewave Sun 03-Apr-16 18:54:24

How can you be snobby about what you name things! That is so bizarre.

pompa Sun 03-Apr-16 18:54:20

Sorry, I was having my tea, so have on;ly just caught up.

Wot, I think your apology is nowhere near enough, I think 1000 lines "I must not scorn the great British tea". is called for here grin

Bellanonna Sun 03-Apr-16 18:54:17

Does any of it really matter?

Ana Sun 03-Apr-16 18:54:07

It was rude because a couple of posters had already referred to their evening meal as 'tea'.

kittylester Sun 03-Apr-16 18:53:45

We have a lounge, with sofas, we use napkins with our own individual rings ( so we know which is which!) We use them for lunch too but not for breakfast (and now I'm confused) I go to the loo or I might need a wee or a poo!! We eat dinner/ tea depending on my mood. We have a glass corridor and a playroom!

whitewave Sun 03-Apr-16 18:53:10

I didn't take you seriously anyway wot?

Bellanonna Sun 03-Apr-16 18:53:01

I have a lounge, in which there are two sofas (and an armchair so there!).
I have two loos.
We have breakfast, lunch and dinner, when we use paper serviettes.
Am I a snob?

lynnie1 Sun 03-Apr-16 18:51:28

I wish I hadn't bothered either, but thanks for your opinion wot...
