I was up early and we stop to watch a steam engine come through Tain before going to the rifle club, then Tescos and home so early I thought I might cut the grass - it is long and wet - before starting cooking for dinner party tonight. Well the thought was there, no fuel ? Never mind it is mainly moss anyway.

Off to cook now - chilli con carne, salad lots of crusty bread followed by lemon curd roulade - all welcome.

soop it is at times such as you described that I truly wish that I lived closer and could spend some time with Rory and make sure that he was okay after I had departed. If your friend is a true cat lover you should not have any problems. I, like you, am as daft as a brush where cats are concerned.

I know zilch about Leicester City footballers but I do hope that they win today, they appear to deserve it from what I have heard on TV. I do like the underdog to win. It would appear if they do win some people are going to win a fair bit of money so the bookies will not be happy.

soop - so sorry to hear about your fall, hope it doesn't take too long for you to recover.
I had a fall off some steps about a year ago, landed on my hip operation. Banged head on the mower and was partly concussed. But main result was bruising.
Don't rush into doing things again.

TriciaF soop has been well warned by us lot and she is resting this week. She is allowed to feed the cats but little else. Like your fall I think that bruising is the main problem although she has hurt the base of her spine.

Tizliz I will be there but I will give the roulade a miss if you do not mind. I prefer starters to desserts. I hope that you have an enjoyable evening and try not to overdo the work. Thanks for the reminder, I have nothing sorted for food this evening.

I cannot believe the weather here, 15C and rising. The sun has been out all day. I am pottering and slowly getting things done. I stripped my bed so I must make it up soon or Tara and I will get a nasty shock later this evening.

Err, hmm, I actually need a BIG parking space as I can't get a broomstick man enough for my weight. I therefore travel by chariot Boudicca style, complete with the scythes on the wheel hubs.

MacSporran is the cook in our household. I'm the laundry girl/washer upper/polisher/part-time gardener/decorator. It's a good arrangement.

TriciaF Any fall (at our age) is to be avoided at all costs. You had a lucky escape. Although your fall was nasty, it could have been so much worse. Hips are vulnerable. Especially after surgery. Did you go to the hospital? Hitting one's head is a total no-no.
I was being careful. I had completed the outside painting jobs without the slightest setback. It was a pure accident. Toe caught the lip of a stone step, (one leg is shorter than the other and I often pitch forward), I landed against a 2 litre paint pot, the top of which was off. It tipped, I slid into the paint and turned over as I fell against a jutting out slab. The pain was intense. I thought that I had done a serious injury to my coccyx. Could NOT get myself upright. My husband found a low stool to which I held as I heaved myself into a kneeling position. You can imagine the state of my jeans. A couple of plants are a becoming shade of Magnolia.
Anyway, all's well and I shall have recovered fully by the weekend.

Reading the details of your accident, soop reminded me of the Christmas Day when I fell down the stairs - before the sherry I hasten to add - and later discovered I had moved my coccyx sideways. I feel for you, know how it hurts. Hope it settles soon and definitely before next weekend. We moved around a lot in the early days of our marriage and I managed to fall down the stairs of every house, we joked that it wasn't home until I had. We now live in a bungalow, much safer - or it is until I venture into the loft space .

Meant to add that we plan a visit to the Harry Potter Experience later in the year. DH has wanted to go since it opened and I have finally given in. I understand you can have a photo riding a broomstick - think I just might!

Evening all!

Sorry I missed my check in this morning. Had a busy day at DGS4 2nd birthday party. He had a lovely time, I've added a picture of him .

Today has been crazy , I've finally packed for the start of our trip tomorrow. Now it's just tidy up time. Sam has gone to stay with our friends and got a ride in a police car today when the young man looking after him took him into the 'office' ! I'd have loved a picture .

Our only granddaughter, aged 9 took part in the British National Karate Competition today and came away with 2 medals . We're so proud of her .

So today has been wonderful.

Off to the airport for an overnight stay before flying tomorrow ( no broomsticks for us ) .

I hope you're feeling better soop , please take care!! I'll be checking in to make sure you really are resting .

You must be so proud of your grand daughter and the birthday boy looks as though he is having a great time. The birthday cake looks fabulous- was that home made? It looks too good to eat.

Good Morning - my virtual friends [smiles]

Thanks Charleygirl we are very proud of her , even more so that inadvertently the judges did not call her to the mat for her individual Kata( its like a karate dance !) , they overlooked her so she missed her chance to compete. Its her best event and much practice had been done in anticipation of placing. But it was not to be . She was bitterly disappointed but with much training from her Sensei , took it on the chin and warmly congratulated the child that won. That's what I want from my granddaughter - good sportsmanship in the face of disappointment. I think she will be getting a surprise in the post from us to cheer her up .

The cake was made by a family friend who is so talented . The best thing is , it tasted as good as it looked and the children were fascinated by the inside. Ive posted a picture !

Thanks Number we are - I have to say being a Nana has been so much more than I expected and so much better. It would be hard to explain to non grandparents I think.

Alea I hope your husband is doing much better and you're not worn out from all the toing and froing.

Soop I suspect you feel a lot worse than you're letting on - so do rest and enjoy your visit with Torben. I'll be checking in so do post all the details so I can enjoy the visit too.

Galen the image you painted was so vivid I don't think if we ever met in real life I would expect anything less than that !! Chariot and Boadicea-like !!

Galen There was I thinking you would go all mod as you rode your broomstick come chariot. Black motorcycle leathers, shiny crash helmet with a lightning flash on the side, and mirrored goggles. I imagined that your chariot was turbo-charged. Ah well! No matter. Will you wear your pearls under or over the breastplate? A minor detail that requires serious thought.

My eldest son is fifty five. He rarely touches alcohol. In fact, he's a lover of a "nice cup of tea". Yesterday, Leicester City football team could have been crowned top of the football league. They are eight points ahead of their nearest rival. My son drank a pint of cider and a tequila. Today, he is suffering. Bless him, he's such a darling, but he really should have known that a couple of drinks would send him over the edge. Leicester City - the Foxes, may become champions later today. Or, they may be crowned champions on their home soil on Saturday next. He and his brother will be over the moon. My youngest son is a ruby fan.

Loft navigated safely this morning. No more risky activity planned - other than 11 month old DGC tomorrow.

cornergran he or she should be a delight even if they are running around which I doubt. They will keep you on your toes but you need time for rest as well. We do not want to hear about any more accidents.

One of my neighbours has a 10 moth baby boy and at present he loves everybody, even accepts my cuddles but I doubt if that will last. Much as he adores his mother he does not cling to her which does surprise me.

Forecast was heavy rain- we have had sunshine- I am not complaining. I went to visit friends earlier this morning and did not need a jacket it was so warm. A heatwave towards the end of the week- cannot wait. I only hope they have not got it wrong and we have snow, hail and thunder.

Pearls definitely over. Otherwise one can end up with round red impressions on one's bosoms. ( as well as the usual ones)

I don't have much in the way of bosoms, a source of great despair in the past.

However I'm now in possession of pert (although very small) breasts and find that padded or gel bras are quite effective at making up the deficit!

It's funny isn't it Phoenix. As you say, a source of despair when we're younger but I'm really grateful nowadays. As you say padded bras are great, or on days I'm not going out no bra at all.
