Soop's friendly KITCHENERS

NanaandGrampy Anlon is a Tervuren. The Malinois have a short coat. We have two, the older one is Harvey who is competing with me for who has the worst arthritis! We lost our other dog a few months ago - which is when I came to Soop's kitchen, where you were all very kind to me.

Wot I missed that bit about Sophia being 46 kilos, what sort of dog is she? My male GSD I had a few years ago was about that weight and he was enormous - he could easily put his paws on my shoulders.

Sophia is a popular name, my niece's grand-daughter (my great grand niece?) is called Sophia.

Today is a hibernating day, had some croissants thanks. The snow is starting to stick. I have a pile of ironing to do (Soop doesn't seem to get this far), then I think I have some TV to catch up on. OH doesn't really like things like Undercover so I record it and have a binge now and again. Need a rest today as I MUST do the VAT return tomorrow.

I have got the itch to do some crocheting now, wonder how my arthritis will cope. I will see if I have some wool to have a try on. Haven't done any for ages.

Alea hope OH is recovering quickly. How is MK hospital? My OH put all the handrails in along the corridors! We used to live in Stony Stratford.

It is customary to moan about MKH and I am eternally glad we are "on the books" at the Royal Free in London fir cutting edge care and treatment of DH's more serious issues, but nonetheless, we have both commented on the very kind and humane care* he has received at MKH and that in some cases they have got their act together quicker than the RFH and moved things along. Much is down to individual doctors and nurses of course, but (fingers crossed) we have had little cause to complain.
And the handrails are second to none!!
(Stony is nice, with some very nice shops in the High Street, we are in a village on the other side, between Newport and Olney)

NanaandGrampy What a lovely holiday to look forward to, especially with two young fellows to keep you both on your toes. Are those the two young boys whose photos we have seen with Sam waiting for action? I ma sure that they will love Florida.

What will happen to Sam when you are away?

It is so cold here today- I have to go out shortly because my printer cartridge decided to die. I think when I return the heating will be switched on and that will be me for the remainder of the day.

Hello everyone, I've been lurking just inside the door with baubles as I've been too busy to sit down - might never move again!!

Hope there is good news of DH Alea and no news of DD for a while yet.

As I have been a domestic goddess this morning and made beef ribs in the slow oven, chilli for 8 (so enough to freeze), a vat of creamy pea soup and a couple of victoria sponges, I thought I'd leave virtual one here - it's got buttercream in so enjoy. I try to make a cake for Mum's carers if I have time as they are brilliant with her and listen to me when I'm concerned about her.

Keep posting everyone, I enjoy reading all the posts even if I can't join in so much at the moment.

Galen I am certain that I would forget about any pain that I had if I sat quietly in a corner listening to the howlers that ex claiments came out with.

People clamour for my baby blankets

tizliz When we went to the rescue centre to look for another dog after our other lurcher died (at a good age), they showed us Sophie and she stood up and put her paws on my shoulders (I am 5'..6") it terrified me! She doesn't do that anymore as it could make you topple over! Not starting to moan again but Sophie is the only thing partner and I have in common.

So much activity and such lovely handiwork. I'm envious of the talents. I was never a fluent knitter, if you see what I mean, my Mum was so good I didn't need to persevere. Sort of wish I had now. I've been on catchup today, lots of laundry, paperwork and phone calls. Not exciting but a couple of successful outcomes I didn't expect so happy. Made some good leftover soup for lunch, yummy but Nomchance of replicating it. A little left if anyone needs a late lunch.

I hardly know where to begin. We opened this kitchen extension on 30th of March. We have 615 visits to keep tabs on. I've never known the kitchen be so busy. You lovely lot deserve for being really kind and supportive of each other.

I've been to the care home. The ladies laughed a lot. We're not certain what it is that is hilariously funny...but then does it matter? Nope!

Alea Whatever next! All I can add is that your husband won't be discharged until he's well and truly on the mend. The fact that he's a patient in the hospital, albeit during a strike, will most definitely mean that he needs and will receive the best possible care. That was remiss of the Royal Free to overlook the antibiotic prior to his procedure. MKH is a good place to be. Please update us from time to time.

Galen I would love to be able to crochet a blanket as beautiful as those in the photos. You are a woman of many talents.

My news got better as the day passed. At first, two sons and daughters-in-law were to meet with us in Glasgow. Son number three then decided that he would also join us. Then...our married granddaughter and her husband added their name's to the list, followed by another granddaughter and her beloved (who are to marry in Holland next year)...and...one grandson. Other grandchildren may also make the journey. Both MacSporran and I are over the moon. Some time to wait. I don't care. Part of the fun is in the anticipation.

Gaga Sweet Peas and Freesias are my two favourite flowers. The perfume is glorious. The colours are stunning.
As a child the family camped in the New Forest. We had a small Austen 7 in those days. Having pitched the tent, my mother realised that the ground was alive with ants. We all piled into the car and spent a very cramped and uncomfortable night.

Charleyg The sun is shining but the wind has an icy blast to it. I'm wearing two thick sweaters, a woolly scarf, thick socks and sheepskin lined slippers (indoors).

A man is coming with a shredder. He's going to shred all the hedge trimmings and branches that were lopped from the bird cherry tree. After which, we're to use the wood chippings on the part of our garden that has very poor soil. In fact, he's just this minute arrived. Excellent timing!

kittylester if you mention the gorgeous food that you have prepared today there will be a long queue outside your house and you will find that you have run out of food. You know that we are all fond of beautiful food such as you have made.

soop I was in the car driving home having bought the last ink cartridge at a very large store when I noticed a small snow fall. This is London, not the Highlands. At least it did not last long and then the rain fell but it is dry but very cold now.

I was in Waitrose with the air conditioning on full blast, I am sure that it was colder out than in. My house is not warm but I am about to rectify that soon.

Galen those blankets are beautiful-a definite talent.

cornergran you are one of us lot. Any moans, groans, happy bits, scary stuff ...you can share with us.
As we're living on the west coast of Scotland...a very long way from family who live in Sussex, Bristol, Rutland and Leicestershire, we try to meet once a year. This year, I was beginning to think that perhaps there was too much stuff going on, and therefore we would not meet until granddaughter's wedding in Holland, next year. I didn't say a word. I would hate for anyone to feel under pressure to meet with us. It therefore came as a very welcome surprise.

Galen As I said, a talented lady in demand (you). First things first...you know what you have to concentrate on before November. No excuses.

Charleyg It is bitterly cold but we've had a dry day. No snow all winter. The sea helps to keep the temperature just the right side of freezing. Must bring in the potted plants, as they are still tender.
I love all animals, no matter how small or mighty they may be.

Off to do a few jobs. Ironing for my pal in the morning. I shall say goodnight and wish everyone, especially those of you with a poorly partner or worries of one kind or another, a restful and cosy evening.

Alea, so sorry to read about your hubby`s latest misfortune, I hope he`s doing well now that he is in the right place, all my good wishes to you both (and to Grace).
We had a little snow earlier, about 5 whole minutes of it, but the sky is darkening again, maybe there`s more to come.

I have no idea what the temperature is but my heating has been on for ages and this room still has not warmed up. What I hate about modern houses is the staircase in the living room so it is as warm as toast upstairs. The sun is shining but I think that it is even too cold for the children to play outdoors.

Alea I do hope that your DH is looking and feeling better since your visit today. Grace must be wondering what is going on. Look after yourself.
