I cannot understand why Anlon will not settle- he looks so comfortable in the photo.

Tara my cat will not sleep in a cat bed- she discovered an empty (no humans) bedroom so decided to sleep on that bed and of course has her litter tray on the floor at the bottom of the bed- a proper en suite. That is if she has not taken over my double bed. How a small cat can spread herself over 3/4 of the bed I have no idea.

soop that is marvellous that you are having a family meetup later. You can be let loose in the Glasgow department stores. A trip to Holland is something else to look forward to- this is your year. I know of two souls who will not be over-impressed, especially Rory.

I still love your garden. I will inspect it properly when you next extend- I am a bit busy at present.

Baubles I should have said fares well...isn't it funny how the realisation that a spelling is incorrect, can sneak up during a marathon ironing session.

I had yet a further surprise. My youngest son (and his partner) will also be joining us. It's not just yet. You know how I like to start getting excited some considerable time before a special event. And we'll have just two days and a night together. An occasion that will make us both very happy. The trip to Holland, isn't until next year. We must get passports.

Charleyg Tara and Rory are very much alike. As I was ironing, Rory asked to go outside. I stopped what I was doing and opened the door. It's a very chilly wind and, within moments, he wanted to come indoors. This happened on and off throughout the afternoon. I know that he's waiting for Bracken to arrive.

The day has whizzed by. Although the sun is shining, it is bitterly cold. The waves are white-capped and I can hear the shingle shifting as they reach the shore.

I have a double bed spread made from crochet squares but it took me so long to make I can no longer get the wool and it is not quite done! I need to unpick some and make it a different shape, but it is very heavy. I think if I ever made another one I would be more careful over my choice of wool.

It is still cold here. I am logging off now I think as it is suppertime.

Oh dear we are in A&E again. I came back from my art history class to find DH in bed shivering uncontrollably with a soaring temperature. No messing about, rang 111 and they sent 3 paramedics to check him out. The likely background is that he has got an infection from his "oscopies" on Friday, as they didn't give him his usual precautionary antibiotic along with the sedative drugs.
The temperature is dropping gradually but we will have to wait for the results of bloods etc to know if he is coming home or staying in. With tomorrow's strike, they will want as few people in as possible. Heigh Ho.

Oh Alea. Been there.... Etc. Worrying time. That shivering is awful,to witness, but at least he's in the right place, possibly having an I.v. antibiotic. If he stays in, at least you know he is being looked after. All the best

This afternoon I managed to plant out my sweet pea seedlings which were going mad and climbing all over each other in their little plastic tray. It's forecast to be chilly tonight so we are going to bring them in overnight. I love sweet peas - the colours and perfume are a joy. They are in a round cane basket with long twigs for them to climb up.

Tomorrow I am going on a day trip with my WI. We are going to the New Forest and will have lunch at a catering college there. The students cook and serve the meal and are really endearing as they try to act out their assigned roles e.g. wine waiter, maitre d', waiter. It's forecast to be chilly again so I will still be in winter togs. Will it ever warm up?

Just popped back. Been a manic day as have had three days with lovely friends here, it made me realise how lonely I can be at times. Thank you all for the warm welcome. I appreciate it. I will call by each day if I can but may be a bit quiet while I get a sense of how it is to be here. If anyone would like some we have coffee and walnut cake to share, I don't like it and there is a limit to the amount DH can - or perhaps should - eat. Soop I'm in a corner of North Somerset, hence my username. Be very happy to join in with the chats here, it will make a difference. Hope you all have a peaceful evening.

Yes cornergran all are welcome in the kitchen especially if you bring cake we will always be pleased to see you. any Coffe and walnut cake would be nice. Lona does a lovely lemon drizzle and bags is well known for her flapjacks and me...I am well known for scoffing nibbling whatever is left unattended for 30 seconds

Alea sorry to hear about your DH, do hope he is feeling better soon and you are not still in A&E

Alea that uncontrollable shivering is awful. I had it last year, bad enough for me but OH just did not know what to do. NHS 111 were as helpful as a chocolate teapot. Insisted on talking to me which was difficult through clenched teeth and must have asked me my dob 4 times. When a doc eventually rang back I had gone to sleep and OH didn't want to wake me, so 6 hours later went through it all again. It was only a water infection and soon sorted but it is frightening.

Sorry to see you and DH are in A & E again Alea. Hope he is feeling better soon and you can sleep in your own beds tonight.

Oh Alea so sorry to hear that this has happened. You need it this week (or ever) like a hole in the head. The only good thing about the strike tomorrow is that you will get superb medical care being in the care of a consultant. I do hope that they sort out the problem but if it means IV antibiotics he will have to stay in. I hope that your local hospital is not too far away. A bit remiss of the RF knowing his medical background.

Alea Your poor husband must get so fed up (not to mention Grace you!) Hope he's home soon.

Well, he is in MK hospital with quite severe septicaemia and has started IV anti-b's (fortunately only 15-20 minutes from home.) A very nice huge black African doctor said he wanted him admitted today because as an in-patient he will be protected from the effects of the strike tomorrow (his words were, "we will be looking after our own" ) which I thought considerate and perceptive.

Oh Alea, what a pain. My husband had two lots of that in recent months but the I.v. meds work very quickly. He's in the right place thank goodness. And at the right time too. I'm sure he'll be smiling when you visit tomorrow.

Alea how difficult for you both but really pleased your husband has been admitted to get the very best care. Fingers are crossed for you both.

Alea Pleased to hear that he was admitted swiftly and hopefully he will get the correct medication asap and you will notice a difference when you visit later today.

soop I know where you are at opening doors. Mine is open at present because I was up and down like the proverbial. There is a nasty wind outside so the door is going to be closed irrespective of where madam is. She was crying after 7am wanting me to get up but of course did not want to go out immediately. Unfortunately the doorman is on permanent leave.

A hasty breakfast for you all this morning , good coffee and croissants ! Up at 06:19 for carpet lifting duty ( I supervised !!) and the carpet fitters arrived at 8:00 so its a bit chaotic down there right now .

Charleygirl I am off to my favourite place in the world :Florida! We will actually be doing a little Mickey Mouse stuff this time as taking youngest daughter and her family with us and so have two VERY excited little boys. So 3 weeks with them . Then we are off to Cape Coral by the coast for 2 lovely weeks of doing nothing but swimming reading and eating .

Its true what they say to be lonely is bad enough but lonely in a crowd much worse.

wot well done on a successful trip !!! 46kgs though? I fear a doggy diet is in Sophie Dogs future {smile]. I think she could swallow our 10kg Sam for a snack

Tizliz I love Anlon - he is a gorgeous boy. Sounds like he is on patrol after dark . He must consider it his job! Is he a Belgian Malinois? He's certainly beautiful .

Well I am off to meet Sophia Grace for the first time today which is always nice. Tiny babies are my favourite sort and I can quite happily spend a long time cuddling but will have to fight off both my daughters for that privilege.
