Who are our youngest or oldest members?

Sometimes a comment or memory will make me think that a member is older or indeed younger than I might have expected.
A recent reference to school trips in the 1930's had me trying to work out the maths. smile
How would you feel about revealing your age? I am prepared to be impressed, especially as so many members seem to be so active and involved in many things.

Maybe I'm one of the oldest grans of little children: Two sisters, just 4 and 22 months, and their boy cousin who is nearly 3-and-a-half. I was 71 when the first baby was born and had given up on grandparenthood. I feel so lucky now but just wish I had the energy needed to run round after them. I do have them to stay, and we do take them out, but it's pretty tiring. Can't imagine life without them though. My girls were very late mums.

LullyDully Fri 18-Mar-16 16:42:14

AlieOxon Fri 18-Mar-16 17:19:26

Birth certificate says 1943 but I don't believe it. I prefer to be 29. Sons are 47 and 43. Three grandchildren.

Willow500 Sat 19-Mar-16 07:01:14

LullyDully Sat 19-Mar-16 08:44:10

So is that youngest 45 and oldest 84 with a possible 94......?

It would be interesting to know.

Nelliemoser Sat 19-Mar-16 09:56:03

AlieOxon You surprised me there. For no good reason I had thought you were probably in your sixties.

AlieOxon Sat 19-Mar-16 09:58:18

I wish! My grandsons are 27 down to 1.....

Nelliemoser Sat 19-Mar-16 10:06:55

This is going to sounds really silly but I seem to be guestimating peoples ages by the style in which they write their posts.

Is any one else guilty of this?

Gaggi3 Sat 19-Mar-16 10:24:40

I agree, Nelliemoser, so must start trying to sound more girlish! Rapidly approaching 73 in August, I was married at 22, DDs at 28 and 30, 1st GS at 65 and girl and boy twins in 2014. It would be nice to have been younger for the grandchildren, but also I would have still been working if a granny very young, and not free to help as much.

grannylyn65 Sat 19-Mar-16 10:30:10

Yes nellie, me too !

Lynker Sat 19-Mar-16 12:29:40

62, married at 23 & 55....2 children at 27 & 29. Long awaited GD at 59 and GS at 62. I have been 27 for many, many years, but fear that I might have got that wrong!

Antjexix Sat 19-Mar-16 12:34:50

Oh,looks like I am the youngest. Been on mumsnet too but much prefer gransnet. A lot more interesting people and subjects smile

daffydil Sat 19-Mar-16 13:03:25

I will be 80 in April. Married at 22., daughter at 23, son at 26, daughter at 32. I have 2 grandchildren ((boy and girl) and our second great grandchild is due a few days before my birthday - a little sister for Harry.

Juggernaut Sat 19-Mar-16 13:23:50

58, mother at 29 and first granchild expected in August!

Charleygirl Sat 19-Mar-16 14:27:45

72, feel like 92 but brain still working. Decided not to have any children once I discovered I would have to keep them for longer than 3-4 days. Career came before a family.

NotTooOld Sat 19-Mar-16 14:39:55

Charleygirl grin

72, married too young, children at 25 and 34, 4 grandchildren aged 14,12,6 and 4 - also lovely DH.

rosesarered Sat 19-Mar-16 15:38:55

Sixty-something and I will be that until I am 70. grin

Jalima Sat 19-Mar-16 15:47:46

I'm 70 but still Sixty-something grin
Although I feel about a hundred with this lurgy and cough.

Just found Bijou's post on charabanc thread....she's 92 turning 93 next month. That means our oldest gran could actually be the grandmother of our youngest gran!

Daisyanswerdo Sun 20-Mar-16 12:05:24

I will be 80 in May.
