I feel like a domestic goddess!

A friend of mine found her son's junior school tie at the bottom of the linen basket. He was 36 at the time!

It's so sad that it's only what you haven't done that shows, or that people notice.

It's Quentin Crisp NanaRayna. Wonderful, very intelligent man. He was one of our models at art school. So I should fully embrace his philosophy on cleaning.

When younger I developed the habit of wiping around my front door with smelly cleaner so my visiting MiL would get a whiff - first impressions linger! If one room is tidy and not in obvious need of cleaning, I'm pleased with myself. Bed linen changing day, the house thoroughly aired with open windows, sunny-day, line-dried washing makes me feel virtuous, as does a freshly cleaned floor- a room does feel cleaner, air better, when it's been freshly "hovered"

Sound like a slut, don't I! Trouble is that with osteoarthritis in both hands and chronic M.E. I rarely get to finish any chore on the same day I started it. I miss the satisfaction of turning out a room or three while the kids were at school and having them come home to a gleaming tidy house with fresh baking cooling on the side while their home cooked dinner was on the stove. Those were my goddess days!

Why can't I order it, do I have to create an account?

Does this much-recommended mop deal with windows? They are my bugbear and now that it's been sunny on quite a few days, the accumulated grease and dust on the kitchen window is embarrassing.

Can one be a domestic goddess if one writes lists of chores to be done ?
Not if one leaves endless lists and bits of paper with 'things to do' or 'shopping' on them lying all around the kitchen and elsewhere (like me)
(Then can't find the list I need)

Should've bought one of those mops from Argos; in fact I mentioned it but DH said 'and where do you think you're going to put it? something else to clutter up the place'

I bought a mop too, thanks to jinglebellsfrocks recommendation, it's brilliant and I hate cleaning, infact have to confess to slight slutty tendencies!

Thanks to Jingl my kitchen floor is lovely and clean! I got one of the steam cleaners from Argos, and was shocked at just how much muck came off the tiles! It was far easier on my back and knees than crawling round with a bowl of hot water and a cloth!
Today I have three loads of washing on the line, all of them done before 8-30 this morning, so that's my domestic goddess bit done for at least the next six months....back to being a slut

Feel qualifies to post here today as I have two lots of washing out on the line instead of using the tumble dryer, hope everything dries as it is not that warm.

Love this thread! Now I realize I'm not the only one ! Do you realize dust only gets so thick then stops growing? After all you never see inches thick dust do you? So why worry about removing it every day (or however often you are supposed to remove it !)
As to the sticky oil ,I keep mine in plastic food trays which can be thrown away when dirty thereby removing the necessity to even wash them !
Oh are you supposed to Hoover under the beds as well !

I also made some disastrous banana muffins; DGD (age 4) ate half of one, so I said to her that I would get her to help me next time. She said 'Yes, and we should use better ingredients next time'

True Bella it is clean (most of the time) as I like order.

inishowen I think DH gets the sticky residue off things with surgical spirit (or something similar)

I made leek and potato soup today with home-made stock [halo]

And I did clean the windows inside last week but the sunshine has shown up the smears and marks (Karcher wasn't charged up).

The oven needs doing though.

Probably because it always looks clean, roses. However if mine looked clean everyone would notice. I keep incanting the "life's too short" mantra.

The sad thing is that once the house is cleaned, nobody else notices!

merlotgran I don't find my karcher as good as I thought it would be. It is easy to use but still leaves streaks.

Thanks to Jingle I've been out and got the steam cleaner and did the kitchen floor for the 2ND time today. I don't mind though I love cleaning.
I'm taking it to my DD tomorrow and give her kitchen floor a go. That will challenge it, she didn't inherit the clean gene. But it looks as if my DGD has.

Auntyflo, I have a Karcher window vac lurking in the garage thanks to jingl singing its praises.

Actually it's brilliant but I have to summon up the energy to get out there and use it!!

The only thing that makes me feel even remotely close to being a domestic goddess is making home made soup, especially the one that has become known as "random vegetable".

Just done some dcluttering of clothes for charity shop done a pile of ironing and put away been to supermarket and put away must admit hubby came with me and helped put croceries away cleaned bathroom and loo best of all got hubby to wash kitchen and bathroom floors ?

Cleaned the microwave this morning - but didn't get round to descaling the kettle. We live in such a hard water area (sigh) that it needs doing literally every 2 weeks...right now it looks disgusting!

I made quiche last Saturday from scratch and it was very nice. My dd must have thought so, as she had some when she came in from work, and then the rest the next day. TBF she did warn me and I put a chunk in a polybox to take to work.
