I feel like a domestic goddess!

Some of you will remember that I've had a bit of a funny time of it of late. grin

So, today, I have made a vast quantity of shepherd's pie mix, a chocolate cake for the staff of Mum's CH.
I've also cleaned out the really sticky cupboard where I store oils and the silly narrow tray cupboard.

I feel really virtuous!!

That's probably it now till next year!! grin

Sorry, posted too soon as the doorbell rand!!

What makes you feel like a domestic goddess?

Alima Tue 15-Mar-16 12:17:45

TBH I think domestic goddess is going a wee bit far but I do feel quite chuffed when I have managed to get all the windows and nets done. Or even managed to cook something edible come to that.
Hope you can see the light at the end of the tunnel now kitty.

I know what you mean about the sticky cupboard, kitty. I now store my oils on a vintage charity shop enamel tray which sits in a corner near the hob. When it gets yucky I can put it in the dishwasher.

Does that make me a goddess or a lazy moo?

BBbevan Tue 15-Mar-16 12:31:15

I find hoovering under the beds does it for me .

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 15-Mar-16 12:35:14

I have just done some totally unplanned gardening, which means my indoor jobs list has not yet been started on. I only went out to throw some dead tulips in the compost bin. I feel virtue-ish.

Stansgran Tue 15-Mar-16 12:36:18

I can't shift beds by myself so it's annual for me. I felt wonderful yesterday when I got to the bottom of the laundry basket and did sheets and pillowcases as well all line dried . Such a beautiful day and the washing smelt delicious.

mumofmadboys Tue 15-Mar-16 12:39:37

I have just made a lemon meringue pie and it looks great! Visitors this evening.

Rubyredshoes Tue 15-Mar-16 12:40:12

A sparkly clean oven. Probably because it doesn't happen very often. It was cleaned in the New Year and it's due a pre-Easter clean any day now. I line the bottom with black plastic thing from Lakeland and use roast-bags for meat/chicken so its not a horrible mess but I still hate cleaning it and feel virtuous when its done!

I also have a sticky oil shelf too KittyL.

ninathenana Tue 15-Mar-16 13:31:34

I'll be round at 6pm mofmb grin

I'm about as far from a domestic goddess as you can get grin
Under my king-size sleigh bed desperately needs doing, however moving it is a three person job. That's my excuse.

kittylester Tue 15-Mar-16 13:38:11

Presumably under a sleigh bed is probably invisible to the naked eye nina so that's OK!! Unfortunately, my oil cupboard is in constant use and revolting. grin

Imperfect27 Tue 15-Mar-16 13:57:42

When my children were all small, I used to wish I had a 'woman who does.' My (now ex) husband called me 'The woman who doesn't!' grin

I think cooking for the masses does it for me - and hovering throughout. And all the bed linen ironed - most often just fold it carefully!

Alea Tue 15-Mar-16 14:06:31

Why do you the need to "hover"? A "helicopter mum??

grannylyn65 Tue 15-Mar-16 14:28:00

Imperfect can hover all she likes imo !!!?

Imperfect27 Tue 15-Mar-16 14:39:18

Ha ha - I might even get the hovering done if I do grin.

Anniebach Tue 15-Mar-16 14:39:21

Can one be a domestic goddess if one writes lists of chores to be done ?

Imperfect27 Tue 15-Mar-16 14:39:45

Tch - did it again - I swear I pressed the 'o' twice!

janeainsworth Tue 15-Mar-16 14:56:04

kitty one of my favourite games is Guess-who-started-the-thread-on-GN and today is a good day grinwink
I set the bar quite low for feeling like a domestic goddess. Any of the following qualify:
Going round the sitting room first thing in the morning removing MrA's old apple cores/banana skins removing yesterday's newspaper, plumping up cushions, checking that chairs/sofa are parallel to/at 90degrees to the fireplace, opening the curtains and refreshing the flowers (if any).
Getting up to date with my accounts/correspondence
Knowing what we will be having for dinner that night
Having no backlog of washing/ironing
Sorting out a cupboard
grin

kittylester Tue 15-Mar-16 15:03:01

I play that game too jane - strangely, I always get jings right!!grin

Luckygirl Tue 15-Mar-16 15:04:25

Nothing makes me feel like a domestic goddess! - I do not qualify at all! smile OH always says (kindly) that I have a high filth threshold - what he means is that I am a bit of a slut - I blame it on my short sight - if I cannot see the dust or cobwebs then they do not exist!

MiniMouse Tue 15-Mar-16 15:08:08

Luckygirl I blame mine on my short height as well as my short sight grin

janeainsworth Tue 15-Mar-16 15:36:10

kitty yes jingl's thread titles are quite diagnostic grin

Stansgran Tue 15-Mar-16 15:45:48

DH said on Sunday. You like living in a tip. IMO It is a tip but it's our tip . I stress the our.

Judthepud2 Tue 15-Mar-16 19:51:17

Getting any housework done at all makes me feel like a domestic goddess! It is getting harder and harder. Muddy pup, sick cat, untidy husband, messy GCs all create permanent mayhem. How I wish I could get my floors mopped ?

Actually at the moment I am in Surrey helping DD1 move. Even with mountains of boxes and 3 children's mess here, it still looks more in control than mine!

Indinana Tue 15-Mar-16 22:10:42

My house is crying out for a visit from a domestic goddess - it's long since given up expecting me to fit this description. I feel pretty pleased with myself these days if I can find a space to put my cup of tea down on the coffee table.
