Do you like your own firstname?

I quite like mine. But we lived in Essex for several years when I was a child and my Mum used to get very annoyed when people dropped the H at the beginning of my name.

I'm boring old Margaret, of course, after my grandmother. She spent much of my childhood telling me not to let people abbreviate it and I spent much of it persuading them to do so. One good thing about the name is that there are lots of short forms, though I'm pleased I didn't end up with Greta or Peggy. She was usually called Meg, which I love, and I ended up with Maggie, which I do like and am happy with. For a considerable time in my teens, I was known as Maggot, and still am by some old friends. Not one I would have chosen.... grin

Following on from the thread 'do you like your grandchild's name' I wondered how many of us like our own name and what would you rather be called? I quite like mine now as its seems to suit me /I've grown into it but as a child I wanted to be called Isabel. I told DH this when we met and he said something I have never heard before 'Isabell necessary on a bicycle?' I still like the name and apologies to all Isabel's out there. (Mine is Susan by the way there were four of us in my class at school!)
