Have you ever....

I haven't bought the same magazine twice but I have had some very funny looks when, in bookshops, I ask my husband, 'Have I read this book?'

Mollie I am surprised that Kindle books let you buy the same book twice. My Kindle tells me if I have already got it as I am about to buy it again.

Also Amazon are very helpful and if something goes wrong like that. If you contact them I am sure they will put a credit on your account and take the duplicate book off.

I had a mix up with a voucher number which I failed to apply even though the book I bought was eligible. They were great. They took the book off, I bought it again with the voucher which they had applied and then they sent me a small credit towards another book of my own choice and magic it has worked.!!! I rang 08004962449 to get all this help.

This month I ordered a personalised birthday cake topper online, for my DS, which said "Happy 34th Birthday -- DS's Name" . I had botched the order and two arrived. I can't even use the spare next year can I!!!!

Not only that but the miniature golfer that I ordered at the same time for another DS's birthday cake has disappeared into my house's resident black hole. I know it will reappear at some point as today 3 Christmas Selection Boxes and 5 packs of chocolate coins rematerialized in a carrier bag in my bedroom when I was looking for a bag of black wool that used to be in that space.

I buy the glossy knitting magazines in charity shops. The trouble is, i can't remember if I've read them before. I often bring them home, flick through them, and find half of them have to be re-donated.

Haven't bought two of anything but frequently bring home books from the library I have already borrowed!

I am trying to remember when I last ate custard so I would never run out of that☺

Yes, more than once i have bought the same magazine twice, but generally it is a monthly one.

petra A few years ago my Aunt, who was visiting from the USA, wandered into town on her own. She returned 'home' to my house triumphantly producing a pair of unworn sandals that she'd bought at the charity shop. I'd donated them the week before! We could have cut out the middle man

I was in a charity shop yesterday and thought, ooh, those boots look nice. Then realised I had given them to the charity shop.
This isn't the first time this has happened.

I once went to a church sale and bought a selection of books I thought my mother would like when I gave them to her they were all ones she had donated

I often do it with food too, loads of doubled up stuff, and when I am sure that we have already got it we haven't!!

I don't buy magazines, but the under sink cupboard is bursting with cleaning stuff replicated many times over.

Getting back to the magazine theme. I've bought the same TV paper twice for the same week. There is nothing more useless. Also bought monthly magazine twice. I've done it so often I don't buy magazines now unless I'm sure it's the right one for the right month or week.

Alima, Sorry, have just seen your question. California Poppies are not the kind you get opium from.(I do have some opium poppies in the garden). I got back from California earlier this month and they mostly grow marijuana over there. (Legally!)

I have done the magazine thing! Usually when I've bought a glossy en route to somewhere, to read while waiting. Only to discover the same mag at home. I usually pass the copy on to a friend.

It would be very annoying to buy the same magazine twice or leave it behind as today's magazines are rubbish.
I get a complimentary Good Housekeeping from my bank it comes by post and after a quick 5 min flick through it goes to my neighbour. I used to love it. I think the cover price is £4.10.
Sorry now back to topic. Actually will just add one more thing. We had a neighbour until just a few years agowho would buy mags like House Beautiful pick their brains for the nicest ideas and had the money (and a very patient H ) and would carry them out, her home was like wallking into a show house.
When they moved she had the perfect opportunity to go mad. I only went once and came back

I've done it with gravy granules, Bisto gravy powder and thickening granules, Tesco granules etc!
I hardly ever make gravy!

Alea that's so funny My downfall is food - I buy stuff and put it in the freezer then forget about it, see the same thing on offer and buy it again. We went shopping yesterday and when I was putting yet more frozen goods away discovered we already had enough food in there to feed the entire street. Same with cat treats - no wonder our house has a secret sign in the garden saying cat hotel !!
