It has been announced that the Crossrail link will be called the Elizabeth Line. I think that is a wonderful name for it and a fitting tribute to the Queen in her 90th year. (Not that the line will be opened until 2018). What do you think?

Parsleywin Tue 23-Feb-16 14:44:50

Yes, fitting. How long before it becomes the Lizzy Line? smile

Alima Tue 23-Feb-16 14:53:44

Yes, that does trip off the tongue!

Ana Tue 23-Feb-16 15:04:00

It's already being called that on the Sky News site!

Parsleywin Tue 23-Feb-16 16:36:16

Helo Ana,

I hadn't heard that. Maybe I've got a whole new career option as a Sky news journo! grin

Ana Tue 23-Feb-16 16:40:30

They'll all be at it soon - but I must admit it hadn't crossed my mind until you mentioned in on here! grin

I like it , the Queen wore a matching suit colour to the colours of the new line today.. she looked pleased.

Not surprised its being called "Lizzy line". Not bothered what they call it really.

Our family have always called the Dartford bridge the 'busy lizzy' I think it's official title is Queen Elizabeth II bridge

I think we could get used to the Lizzie Line! A fitting tribute, as Alima said, and a potentially useful addition to London life.

I cannot see it being called anything other than cross rail as that is what it has been called for so many years, long before any work was started.

Stupidly unimaginative and unoriginal.

SueDonim Wed 24-Feb-16 01:46:45

As unimaginative as the Victoria Line? grin

Do you think her lilac outfit was chosen on purpose or was it serendipity?

Leticia Wed 24-Feb-16 18:19:42

I love 'unimaginative and unoriginal' and think it a great name to stand the test of time.
