Soop's kitchen extension

A weird day here- bright sunshine and then a shower of rain. I am finding it cold so the heating is on. I am having a lazy day- okay, lazier than most and catching up with recorded programmes. I should be sorting through my wardrobes to fill up the charity shop. Tara is out and about as usual.

Are we accident prone in the kitchen? I don't think it's an age thing I think it's just that our balance isn't quite what it was.

When I was in UK. I saw a chiropodist who told me that I wasn't lifting one foot as much as the other when I walked I certainly was walking better after his treatment. annsixty have you thought of trying something like that for your sciatica? It is such a horrible pain, I hope that you have a better day today.

Up early to take DH to mass then quickly blitz Hoover round as we have 2 sisters in law, nephew, DD and SIL and his lovely parents coming to lunch.

Sorry to hear about your tumble Alea, hope your knees have recovered. My bruises are still in evidence after 8 days, but are fading a little. It doesn`t help when folk say that it was a daft thing to do, or don`t make a habit of it, as if I actually ENJOYED falling!
Today, I unintentionally hurt Mia! She was lying on top of the wheelie bin just near the back door, it was raining and blowing a gale, so I very kindly asked her if she was coming in. I was rewarded with a blank stare, and she stayed put, so I came back inside. Just as I was closing the door, there was an unearthly screech, and there was Mia, shooting off down the yard after I`d trapped her in the door, not realising that she`d changed her mind and decided to come in after all. It was 2 hours before she deigned to return, during which time I was picturing her badly hurt somewhere, but she seems fine, I think she was just punishing me.
Ann, if you do have sciatica, I can empathise, it`s horrible, I`ve suffered on and off with it for well over 30 years.

I think it might be upside down, (d'oh) but even right way round is not a good look.
You could rob banks in one of those, but you can't see through the plastic. It makes me realise how poor Grace must have suffered from the canine equivalent of tunnel vision. However flattering (?) I suspect if I brought it out again for her I might lose a finger or two.

Ok Alea you can come out now. Never let it be said that I would stop you eating your Easter eggs . No offence intended but it looked better on Grace. I agree with annsixty it's quite scary, like a sort of riot veil

Anyway, I am cosying up here because somebody doesn't like me and says I am "nasty and bitter" Not going to bring the argument into the kitchen as that is against the rules, just licking my wounds (and checking the cake situation)

In answer to your question soop, no you don't have to freeze it and it will keep well in the fridge for a few days (fat chance!) although the base will soften up a bit after 4 days, being made of Oreo cookie crumbs, chocolate crumbs and just a little butter.

I have been reminding others re clock change but birdbrain here will probably forget.

Happy Easter kitcheners, typical holiday weekend weather here so far, wet and windy. But that does mean no possibility of accidents in the garden! Drat, lose an hours sleep tonight. Must remember to change the clocks, but some of them mysteriously change themselves ?

annsixty You've been suffering for a long time. You are welcome to tell us lot about your aches and pains. Have you actually put you feelings into words and discussed your problem with your husband? I would, if I were you. I'm so sorry that you feel down in the dumps. You NEED practical help not platitudes. When are you to next visit your GP? Please make it sooner rather than later.

Alea Sorry to hear that you've also been throwing yourself around tripping during gardening. A garden can be a dangerous place...for the likes of us lot.
You certainly know the way to score brownie points. That tart sounds far too good to hang around...do you need to freeze it? I would love a slice.

Charleyg Good news regarding the chairs. Having a fire retardant label is of the utmost importance. I had to chuckle when I read your comment about being asked if you could take the chairs to the shop. What a laugh!

Tizliz The purpose of slogging in the neglected corners of our garden, was to expose the rocks. Now that the ground is less choked by thicket, I'm hoping that wild flowers, heathers, thistles and nettles might be persuaded to grow. Anything to attract butterflies and bees. I shall maybe add compost in between the rock crevices. Thank you for the tip. I shall transplant some of the heather that is growing in the main rockery. Periwinkle thrives in our wasteland area. It can become over prolific but, when the spring shoots and flowers newly emerge, the carpet of blue is stunning.

The weather here is so miserable that even Tara has come home to have a snooze. It is raining outside but she appeared as dry as a bone. Where does she go?

Oh annsixty have a big {{hug}} from someone who is not one of nature's gardeners but what I don't do doesn't get done.
I decided to do some cheating by planting a run of primrosey type thingies along the path up to the front door and then to put the remaining plants into some empty tubs. All went well until I tripped over nothing on a paving stone and pitched belly first into a not yet flowering hydrangea in a tub. The dry spiky branches were not a soft landing and I now have 2 sore knees but also no idea of why I went down!! So much for my "advice" to number.
Anyway I am now in the middle of making Nigella's salted chocolate tart and an orgy of wooden spoon licking. ???
Yum very yum!
I will leave a few slices in the Kitchen for sampling and feedback. Nigella says this quantity will feed 12 - who is she kidding? [tbusmike]
