Soop's kitchen extension

It's been snowing here quite heavily this morning, but thankfully it's too warm for it to settle. I'm sure higher up in the Welsh hills there's quite a covering.

Think I am being punished for mentioning Spring yesterday. Woke up to an inch of snow. Hopefully roads will be fully cleared before I go out.

Alea I love the hedgehog story !! We've never had one in our garden but do have a plastic one !! Not quite the same eh?

Good morning all !

soop shame about the fish and chips but the soup sounds glorious. Can't beat a good bowl with nice bread !

Preschool heating is out of order today so we are stepping up ! Our youngest daughter has always had problems with her back and is currently suffering from what I can only presume is sciatica. She has lost a lot of weight in the last few months so its galling that it happens now when she is at her lightest weight for years!

So we are her taxi to the docs this morning, then we will have DGS3/4 for an hour to play. Then taxi her and DG4 home and we will have the pleasure of our 4 year old grandson for the day. He has already put in his dining request ( fishfingers and chicken nuggets - his two favourite things ).

There will be much playing of cars and lego, and then I think we will spend the afternoon at the gym, swimming and on soft play. Lots of other little ones so he can run around and let off some steam.

Grampy and I will then spend the evening semi comatose from exhaustion

I hope all those who have been unwell are feeling much better today and no health crisis arise -giving you a peaceful and happy day!!

DD suggested I take it out a fleecy blanket, hottie and cuddly toy!

Spring is threatening to, well, spring here this morning! I am feeling reasonably positive that we might have a normal day without medical trauma and if it is not too cold I might resume work on the border.
Did I say earlier about my little visitor? I was cutting back old stuff when I came across a limp soft thing -eek! I absolutely do NOT "do" dead things, so, thinking it was a dead hedgehog I asked my nice young neighbour if her husband would dispose of it for me. He came round, had a look at it, gave it a gentle poke and it moved!! It must have been hibernating , so I replaced all the grasses I had cut back in a little heap over it, covered it with an upturned shallow plastic planter (to keep predators -Grace? - off) supported by empty flower pots to allow some air in and also to let it out when it wakes up properly, left a small plastic dish of cat food and am hoping that it will have made it through the recent cold snap. Fingers crossed for Tiggywinkle!

Next time you need chumming while MacS is busy with medics, let me know, soop. Always willing. ?

Alea and Annsixty, so sorry that things aren`t going well for you and yours, I hope that things do improve soon, if only a llittle.
I ordered a new wooden case wall clock radio controlled, with a pendulum, late on Sunday night, from Amazon, it arrived this morning, that`s what I call service! And it looks very nice up on the wall.
I have to get up earlier than usual tomorrow. We booked a roofer to put a new roof on our garage and bathroom, must have been late September/early October, they rang this morning to say they`re coming tomorrow at 8am.......if it`s not raining. What`s the betting it rains?

I can do those from my android but my laptop is very boring!!

Hope you are feeling a bit better ann and hope Alea's DH is doing ok now and that she had her little bit of self indulgence today. as a nightcap - bet there is one of those too!!

Phew!!!! I thought to myself, I'll just pop into our kitchen to see if anyone has visited since I left yesterday. I was bowled over to discover so much news.

I do feel very sad for you and your husband, Alea You have both had a horrid time recently. Thing is, your husband's condition, being long-standing, means that you suffer just as much but in a different way.

annsixty Any crisis within a family hurts different members in different ways. I wish that I could comfort you with a gentle hug. Having someone with whom you can confide, is what you need and deserve right now.

bags I wished that you could have been with me today. Sadly, Oban isn't a good place to get to from your location. It would have been lovely to share a hearty blether.

It's been a long day. We left home at 9:30 and returned at 4:30. The weather was mixed. The scenery was, as always, a treat for the senses. We didn't have fish and chips. BUT...we did come across a newly opened fish restaurant that we've promised to visit when we return to Oban for MacS's results. Didn't have a glass of wine either. We went to a coffee shop and had hearty soup, granary bread (and butter) and a frangipan (?) cake for pud.

Well, I would love another We've a wee dram to look forward to a little later.

I've heard (from my pal) that a towering pile of laundry needs to be ironed. This will mean that I shall not be with you lot until early afternoon.

My treat would be a pc that works all the time! I have spent two days working on it now and it is sulking. It is 11 months and 2 weeks old - so think it is going to be a repair. Using my old pc at the moment which OH usually uses. Fingers crossed it doesn't give up. Not quite sure why I have a nice well behaved Apple Mac at home which only gets used in the evenings by OH and horrible ones at work.

Feel better for a good moan. Off into Inverness tomorrow so no computer problems. Only going to take a parcel to the courier (yes, they will pick up but when? Usually when we are walking the dogs). Side trip to Tesco and that is the morning used up.

Sorry that so many posters here are not feeling too good, or their OH's. Hopefully spring is on the way and the extra sunshine will make everyone feel better. Pouring with rain at the moment

Alea I am sorry to hear your husband is poorly again. It seems that at the moment you must be constantly wondering and worrying which of his health issues is going to get him next. It must be really exhausting for both of you. and (((hugs)))

Really sorry to read that things are not good alea, my best wishes are with you and DH - snd also with ann and her family problems. I've been sitting here feeling very sorry for myself with a runny sore nose and a cough, and it's about time I remembered that I am actually very lucky ?.

Thinking about a treat: a box of Thornton's chocolates with a new book (probably a detective or a Kathy Reichs) in front of a fire and possibly a glass of red wine

Charley the gin , or at least the alcohol boils away , it just leaves quite a tart marmalade, a little different from the usual stuff.

Ah, I should explain, during the same period as my Mills and Boons I was taking my first degree and my M & Bs were just an escape from prescribed reading . I much prefer a good murder mystery.

I'm sorry to hear that DH is poorly again and I agree with ann that you suffer too with having your life curtailed. I think Ann does too and I salute you both for coping. Both of you have enough to contend with without more things being thrown at you. I hope things get sorted for you dgc ann
