One concern is that house deeds are now being shredded, as we no longer have to keep them as proof of ownership. They are valuable records to anyone interested in local history - our local history group is trying to get the word out that they would be glad of any hard copies to scan. Ours date back to the mid nineteenth century, and the writing is so exquisite I wouldn't want to shred them anyway!
