Supposing the grandmother of 2 was still in her 30s ( there are some that young) and a blonde ski-worker, which aspect of the murderer would the media go for?

Makes me laugh when I see a headline 'Grandmother of two defies burglars' or some such and when you read on you discover she's only 52!

They do seem particularly keen on the house price aspect if it's quite high - as though readers will find it especially shocking that the victim and/or perpetrator lived in an affluent area...

Age gives context. If a man is arrested for murder the news will normally say 'a man of 26 was arrested today and charged with the murder of.......'

This obsession with house value is peculiar, Is it a way of indicating class/income. In which case is it worse to murder someone who lives in a house worth 90,000 or £900,000?

It is often about titillation and what makes the newspapers sell so I suppose it all comes down to money really. The love of money is the root of all evil we are told!

I never know where I stand on this.

Some people say that they dont like age mentioned either, so I dont know where my personal line is.

A 34-year old woman who was known to the victim is context, not the colour of the accused's hair.

We need context though.

Otherwise it becomes random woman kills random man.

Why give so much information about where she lives and the fact she is blonde. Why on earth do we need to know how much her flipping house is worth? Is it just to make us all hate her that bit more?

To be expected of the Daily Mail, but the Telegraph?

Yesterday, the Daily Mail described her as attractive blonde ski instructor. I think it's sexism and stupid journalism river walk. A woman has been stabbed to death and the media seem obsessed with what they are calling a 'love triangle'. The DM referred to Helmshore, where the victim lived, as a sought after village……. You'd have thought they were in Surrey.
