I had the slow cooker on for 4hours yesterday making chicken stock from the carcass of the roast we had on Wednesday.
I strained it into a container but forgot to put it in the fridge. I have just started my shopping list for the afternoon and added leeks for the soup I was planning, remembered the stock and went to put it away ( the utility room is as cold as the fridge overnight).
Result of course , no stock and the container washed and in a cupboard!!
He also this morning answered the phone which he normally never does ,to someone I really didn't want to speak to and told her I would ring her back as I was in the bathroom. That's half an hour I will never get back.

I treasure my OH even though he makes my blood boil at times.
He is fighting his way through depression, and just reverting to his normal agaravating self.grin

Yes Galen, I spent nine years alone before meeting my husband. I like to tease him about 'training' him in, but I am sure he has his own list of what annoys him too. I know I wouldn't want to be without him for a heartbeat really smile.

Galen your few words were so poignant and spoke volumes [flowers

Galen Sat 16-Jan-16 13:31:41

Id still rather have mine around despite his annoying habits. ( putting dirty clothes on top of clothes basket, snoring, saying he's left a mess cleared up the kitchen after Sunday lunch and such like)
He was a brilliant cook and I loved him.

Me neither Jalima grin
In self defence I have acquired a few project management skills of my own wink

Sadiesnan Sat 16-Jan-16 12:30:19

Atrig, so does mine, now!

Jalima Sat 16-Jan-16 10:24:26

Yes, DH's area of expertise was project management. Now he is retired, apart from a couple of charities, I am the main focus of his project management skills.

I have never liked being 'managed' grin

Atrig Sat 16-Jan-16 10:12:14

Sadiesnan, I think I've trained mine too well in the handling of leftovers. Even if there are only a couple of spoonfuls left in the bottom of the pan, he asks if I want to keep it

Lona Sat 16-Jan-16 08:11:32

grin These type of threads make my blood pressure shoot up!! I'm sure I'd commit murder if I was married!
Thank goodness for a peaceful single life where I'm in control ! ?

A lot of people went on project management courses in 1987....some never returned #thelostgeneration

janeainsworth Sat 16-Jan-16 01:14:14

MrA has never been the same since he went on a Project Management course in 1987.

When you live by yourself I think with a sigh of relief I don't have to put up with any of this. Thank you God!

It's the "advising" that gets you down, especially when you're doing something that you do regularly!

annodomini Fri 15-Jan-16 20:50:08

Once more, I reflect on the joys of the single life. grin

Jalima Fri 15-Jan-16 20:11:07

I have been packing everything up prior to decorating, new carpet etc. He has been 'advising' me. hmm

Sadiesnan Fri 15-Jan-16 19:59:17

Jalima, my DH sounds a lot like yours. On Christmas Day my son told me off for shouting at him so much, but really when you're stressed and trying to get dinner on the table for 14, h̶i̶g̶h̶l̶y̶ ̶a̶n̶n̶o̶y̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶c̶o̶m̶m̶e̶n̶t̶s̶ ̶a̶b̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶w̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶I̶ ̶s̶h̶o̶u̶l̶d̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶d̶o̶i̶n̶g̶, helpful comments aren't really helpful.

Sadiesnan Fri 15-Jan-16 19:52:53

I'd cooked slow roast beef and made lashings of lovely gravy. We had enough beef left over for our dinner the next day and plenty of gravy. I wasn't quick enough, he poured my lovely gravy down the sink and washed the pan. I was distraught, probably out of proportion really. He went out and bought some "taste the difference" beef gravy. It was vile. We laugh about it now, but it took me a while.

Jalima Fri 15-Jan-16 19:45:04

Yes, it is grannylyn65 (having spent a lot of time on my own but not now).

DH has been very helpful lately, when I come home and rush around the kitchen trying to get a meal he gets in my way at every step helps by coming in the kitchen and washing up the lunch dishes which I asked him to do when I rushed out at 1.30 pm.
He also makes a lot of helpful suggestions about what I could be doing annoying remarks about what I am not doing.

grannylyn65 Fri 15-Jan-16 19:39:43

Is better than being alone ?!

rosesarered Fri 15-Jan-16 18:45:24
