We're flooded in Aberdeenshire.

In fact we've been cut off-no roads open in any direction, airport closed and no trains running. Evacuations and torrents of water pouring through streets in many towns and villages. It's dried up a little after 8 days of rain, but more rain forecast and now we have snow coming through. All getting a bit fraught! Pic is of normally small burn at rear of our house-that's our fence in bottom left of pic.

Glad to hear the water's going down a bit - that was too close for comfort Katek

All this rain is just dreadful. I hope all of you in the afffected areas stay safe.
These storms seem to have only really hit places to the north of Manchester this time.

Same view today....thank goodness! More rain forecast later though.

Gosh, that's a relief Katek. Do hope the water continues to stay away from your door.

Goodness KatyK That is a lot of water for a "small" burn. I hope it does not get any worse.

I'm with you, Katek, as I'm in Aberdeenshire, too. I'm counting my blessings that the worst we've had to put up with is being cut off by the terrible state of the roads. We even had to miss our dentist appointments on Thursday - how sad! wink

My heart goes out to everyone affected, this is the worst period of rain I've seen since we moved here in 1996.

Hi Sue-nice to hear from someone else up here. Looks as if Ellon, Inverurie and Kemnay have been really badly affected. The community spirit has been fantastic though-do you follow Fubar news on FB?

Jane10 Sun 10-Jan-16 10:22:05

Er as a matter of interest have you seen much of your MP or is he too busy with his radio show in London? confused

Katek Sun 10-Jan-16 11:03:04

Ah...wee Eck the fish is MP for our neighbouring constituency of Gordon although he lives in ours. He was briefly glimpsed doing an interview on STV news in Inverurie a couple of days ago, but not seen any sign/mention of him since. Hmm.....are we surprised????

Jane10 Sun 10-Jan-16 11:12:52

Nope!

Katek Sun 10-Jan-16 13:30:21

wink!

Hi Katek. smile Some of those areas seem to have been affected again today - it must be a total nightmare for them, poor souls.

I just discovered Fubar this past week. Or rather, I knew of its existence but I didn't know it was a NE Scotland thing, I thought it was something like Buzzfeed or DailyMash so didn't ever bother click on it. They've done a sterling job in keeping people informed and coordinating help and so on. And not forgetting reuniting pets and owners!

I'm one constituency down from you. I haven't heard if my MP has been out and about but I imagine he will have been as he lives locally. One of my girls was at school with him - honestly, what is it with MP's, doctors and policemen nowadays? They're all about 13 years old! wink
