Worrying situation

When catching up with a young(er) friend yesterday I was horrified to hear of her New Year experiences in Germany. She spends every Christmas and NewYear with family in Hamburg. This year she and her friend suffered a horrifying ordeal at the hands of a drunken marauding group of men of Arab or North African appearance. They were grabbing and groping women of all ages. These were not good natured kissing/hugging sort of new year stuff but serious sexual assaults. She was rescued by a restaurateur and his staff who saw what was happening. They sheltered them until it was safe enough to try to get home. This man literally stood in the door and had to prevent these men coming after her. These men did not speak German or any European language that my well educated friend knew. They just weren't around like this in previous years. She's drawing her own conclusion as to where all these dangerous men came from.
I'm glad David Cameron is focusing on admitting families rather than hordes of young men. I'm sure that forum members will pick holes in this and I'll be accused of having all sorts of politically incorrect thoughts but just thought I'd pass on this news from a nasty front line.

Greenockgran I don't know what you are alluding you.

Tell me!!!!! (please)

Greenockgran Fri 08-Jan-16 23:06:22

well jingle you seem to know what you ate talking about. Bullying other posters with your higher knowledge on political matters makes you look (tawdry)..took me ages to find a word that suits you.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion including the Mumnsnetters.

shock WTF?!!!

I just asked what you meant. Cos I don't get it.

What bullying? Am I not allowed to post on here?

M0nica Fri 08-Jan-16 23:10:56

Almost as soon as the attacks happened and were in the media, it was suggested, I think on the BBC, but I may be wrong, that the attacks were by teams of men who seemed to be co-ordinated.

Hate when an intelligent discussion falls by the wayside by an ipad mistake smile

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 08-Jan-16 23:13:19

"Tawdry". Meaning: "Gaudy and cheap in nature or appearance."

I'm not cheap!

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 08-Jan-16 23:14:48

That was a long I-pad mistake! confused

Where is the intelligence in that?

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 08-Jan-16 23:18:54

And I still wanna know WTF you were "alluding" to in your post.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 08-Jan-16 23:20:49

And Mumsnetters are of course entitled to their views. Just not on here. The clue is in the Gransnet bit. hmm

Greenockgran Fri 08-Jan-16 23:25:51

Yes Monica, but the girls who were atttacked reported it to the police. Nothing was reported until the internet did. The police of chief has now lost his job by twisting the facts. I am only reporting the facts according to MSM.

Greenockgran Fri 08-Jan-16 23:28:49

stop screetching jingle!

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 08-Jan-16 23:31:46

greenockgran are you sure it wasn't my post you took offence to? confused

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 08-Jan-16 23:32:42

Excuse me?!

You insulted me. Quite out of the blue, and with no reason whatsoever.

I don't screech. And I most certainly don't bully.

Ok

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 08-Jan-16 23:33:33

That was definitely worth saying twice.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 08-Jan-16 23:35:42

Mind you, as your spelling doesn't seem to be top notch at the moment, there are only two conclusions I feel drawn to.

Thick or pissed.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 08-Jan-16 23:37:08

Oh! And you get your news from MSN! Explains a lot. grin

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 08-Jan-16 23:37:19

greenockgran what is MSM please?

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 08-Jan-16 23:38:31

jings just explained. Isn't MSN American based?

Ginny42 Fri 08-Jan-16 23:40:12

I heard in a news report that some German males and an American had been arrested in respect of these attacks. So not all were refugees.

Greenockgran Fri 08-Jan-16 23:51:15

Oh good grief! msn Stands for main stream media.. Bbc mail online etc. You can believe it or not. However, much of their reporting leaves out or twists the truth.
Reading opinions on forums should only be the beginning.

Ginny, could you quote the opinions.

WilmaKnickersfit Fri 08-Jan-16 23:56:18

greenockgran posters have been quoting 'main stream media' throughout this thread. Here's another piece of information from the BBC -

Two men, aged 16 and 23 and apparently of North African origin, arrested on Thursday in connection with the sex attacks, we're released without charge.

Cologne police say they are currently investigating 21 people in connection with the sexual assaults. It is not known how many of these are asylum seekers.

The federal police (responsible for the station itself, but not the area nearby) said earlier today that of the 31 suspects whose names are known, 18 have asylum seeker status.

The suspects include nine Algerians, eight Moroccans, four Syrians, five Iranians, two Germans and one each from Iraq, Serbia and the US.

Greenockgran Sat 09-Jan-16 00:05:14

Thanks Wilma. However until the Merkel thing, girls could celebrate New Year in Cologne. Now the can't.
I see problems ahead.

WilmaKnickersfit Sat 09-Jan-16 00:08:04

The attacks were the first item on the midnight news on R4. It was reported that there is a possibility that the original police report was altered to avoid mentioning that some of the attackers might be asylum seekers.
