Christmas officially over...?

I bought a small pre-decorated tree from Tesco this year which is supposed to be plantable (do hope so; as a kid we always used the same tree and put it back in the garden each year - it lasted for 10 years till we moved and became an old friend!) The new one is still looking really healthy and hasn't dropped its needles! But if it doesn't take, well - it was only a tenner and I can always try again next year! It will stay indoors till Twelfth Night, when I'll put it out until I can get it planted. We haven't done any other decorations, but the cards will go out in the bin on Twelfth Night too! Then we'll start the annual de-clutter (we might even finish it this year . . . !)

DH went to Tesco for a few bits this morning and came home with a large box of luxury chocolates reduced to £5. He said he thought I would like the pretty box to keep after we ate the chocolates (I would). It's not like we've finished everything else we got (or even started some of it).

How can people remember these things?

People can change - perhaps jingl is more health-conscious these days.

I got three of those boxes.

I'm eating the choccie biscuits that came with hem. And the wine will get drunk sooner or later. (Or should that go to a food bank? )

I don't actually know where "my local day centre' is. And I doubt anyway that they'd want half a packet of Marks and Sparks Belgian truffles that I got free for buying my Xmas prints from them.

I agree jings that's exactly why I did it, but it was also about keeping them out of sight and mind. Anybody at my work would have to actively go looking for the goodies and if they'll do that, then they'll go to the vending machines full of them.

I take unwanted chocs and fancy biscuits to my local day centre where they are very much appreciated by the attendees at coffee and teatime. I certainly wouldn't bin them

Because there could be people there trying desperately to stick to a diet for the good of their health. And you are just putting temptation under their noses.

It's not kind. You are only giving it because you don't want to get fat on it yourself anyway.

Never sure when 12th night is precisely is it the 5th or 6th? and should they be down on 5th ie down before the 6th or down on the 6th at the latest

What a load of tosh jings. What's the difference between being given the 'fatty crap' as a gift and taking it into the office for others to eat?

And anyway, if I want to get back to healthy eating, why should that impinge on anyone's Christmas enjoyment?

It is fatty, sugary crap,whichever way you look at it. And I think it would be cruel.

It's not fatty crap jings if you haven't over-indulged and see it as a treat.

The foodbanks that I know of welcome 'luxuries' - who wouldn't want to receive some nice chocs or biscuits, along with the basic pasta, bread and tinned goods.

Put yer hand in yer pockets and donate something useful.

And to take it to a food bank is even worse!

It is a truly dreadful thing to take unwanted chocolate and the like into a workplace. Why off-load the fatty crap on others?
