Thought I was all prepared but have received requests from family and have to visit local Co op for more bits . I am planning to make a chocolate cake for Boxing Day if there are any ingredients left on the shelf. Then ironing in front of the telly.

Go to shop in one direction to change some cushions which are wrong colour.
Go to shop in other direction to pick up last minute pressie.
Cook gammon.
Roll out and bake mince pies and sausage rolls.
Put pressies under tree.
Endeavour to stay off Gransnet!

Did the big shop yesterday with help of 12 year old DGD couldn't have done it without her. The porch is now acting as back up storage.
Bought some lovely flowers, going to arrange them now.
Going to see Mum in care home who is not doing at all well.
Must clear clutter in dining room today ready for tomorrow's lunch for 12.
Still haven't done any cleaning, laundry basket empty though, ironing basket full.
Going to spoil DGD, then take her home to Mum and DGS in readiness for visit from Father Christmas.
Then a quiet evening, hopefully,

Auntieflo Thu 24-Dec-15 09:50:44

Wrapped the last of the presents, thank goodness. Knee got very stiff sitting at a desk. We are off to town soon, help. Parking is a nightmare

ninathenana Thu 24-Dec-15 09:55:03

DH decided to put all the bits from the hob in the dishwasher whilst I was upstairs.
Ok then dear, I'll cook the gammon later shall I ?
Just some hoovering to do and that's it.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 24-Dec-15 11:10:20

Got to make a quick dash to Waitsore's for last minute items. DD will wear her fairy tiara, and I will wear my Xmas jumper over the top of my raincoat will leave my coat undone so my snowmen show. tchsmile

Bellanonna Thu 24-Dec-15 11:15:28

nina ! Bless him. Why are they always " helpful" at the wrong time ?
Can you bake the gammon ? Still, the dishwasher cycle won't take long and I suppose it was the thought that counted grin

ninathenana Thu 24-Dec-15 11:20:49

It's not really a problem bella tchsmile just means I cook it this afternoon instead. As you say he had good intentions.
Gammon is now cooking.

Alima Thu 24-Dec-15 11:25:45

Meat is on the oven, getting on with prepping the veg. Have to clean up and Hoover this aft. I can feel the panic mounting, will be faffing around with prawns and meringues before too long. Good luck to any fellow reluctant cooks out there. So looking forward to Boxing Day!!

Ana Thu 24-Dec-15 11:27:32

Must remember to take the prawns out of the freezer this evening! Thanks for the reminder, Alima.

Greyduster Thu 24-Dec-15 11:30:26

Just finished putting frosting on my chocolate cake. I have a lot of jobs lined up to keep DH busy. His younger brother died yesterday and i'm trying to give him things to take his mind off it a bit; not that it will i suppose, but we can try. He usually loves Christmas so much. Sorry to put the mockers on the festive spirit. sad

Alima Thu 24-Dec-15 12:03:56

flowers Greyduster. So sorry about your brother in law. It is a sad fact that Christmas can be a time of loss as well as celebration.

whitewave Thu 24-Dec-15 12:20:43

Cooked gammon - done
Make Christmas Tree for GS's - dough in fridge chilling. Must make icing.
The whole thing seems to take for ever, but I am bored with gingerbread house as been making it for about 10 years.

Tegan Thu 24-Dec-15 15:23:04

Leaving everything til the last minute as usual I've just bought he LAST pack of Cherry B from the village shop. It would have been a disaster if there were none left. They also sell Babycham and Snowballs but Cherry B has become my Christmas treat.

Ana Thu 24-Dec-15 15:35:20

Same here, Tegan, I love it! Have been stocking up at Iceland as nowhere else seems to be selling it this year.

whitewave Thu 24-Dec-15 15:37:15

Still cooking the bloody Christmas Tree and then have to ice it - won't do it next year!tchhmm

Greyduster Thu 24-Dec-15 16:02:47

Thank you Alima. That is kind. The plan seems to be working - he's been sterling this afternoon. He made sausage rolls and pigs in blankets and calmed me down when s-i-l accidentally locked my induction hob and i didn't know how to unlock it!! Couldn't find the blooming manual so had to look ont' interweb. Gosh, tegan i didn't know you could still get CherryB! I used to like that, too.

dustyangel Thu 24-Dec-15 16:12:15

Greyduster flowers

What was I am I going to do day.

Should never have agreed to go out to lunch with DH.
Should never have agreed to taking our own bottle of gin because the bar/ restaurant has run out. (!)
Don't Portuguese people drink gin and tonics? tchshock

But,... have been able to give our very good wishes and presents to a family
that we have know for 25 years and have been very kind to us, especially this year.

Had the sense to have the occasional cleaner in yesterday. (More presents and good wishes!)

Last minute tidying will get done sometime.
And i will put the rest of the cards up today. tchgrin

Have a Happy Christmas everyone. tchsmile

Bellanonna Thu 24-Dec-15 16:20:28

Same to you Dustyangel. Bet your weather,s nice and sunny. My friend who lives near Lagoa says it is! Hope there's some gin left.

whitewave Thu 24-Dec-15 18:27:30

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 24-Dec-15 18:47:16
