We can say what we aim to get done, and then come and say if we have actually done it. tchsmile

Today for me, marzipan on cake, and wrap most of my pressies.

Yes a lot to do, but a plea from those of us with a Christmas birthday. Please don't add a birthday greeting to the Christmas card. It is nice to know you think of us but an afterthought is a bit hurtful !

I had shingles in my thirties. It was extremely painful so flowers to you Nana3.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 20-Dec-15 13:08:13

No! Put a birthday card in! Stingy lot. tchhmm

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 20-Dec-15 13:10:11

loopylou Sun 20-Dec-15 13:35:21

And I'm another with a festive birthday, mine's tomorrow so thanks but no thanks for the three Christmas cards with 'Happy Birthday' added as an afterthought tchhmm

Have finally wrapped all my presents yeah!
I have written myself a note for things that need to be taken out of the freezer and will be in the farm shop at 8 am on Thursday for the fresh veg, milk, cream.

ninathenana Sun 20-Dec-15 14:45:00

Those of you who find it awkward/painful to do your wrapping. I sit on my bedroom chair and adjust my large ironing board to a suitable hight.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 20-Dec-15 15:31:53

My shopping being delivered at 8 am Thursday morning. Horrific thought. Best delivery slot I could get.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 20-Dec-15 15:33:48

This afternoon I am having time off. Lying on sofa watching A Winters Tale ballet on catch-up.

Blow the wrapping and the cake icing?

Teetime Sun 20-Dec-15 15:34:19

Cocktails at my neighbours house in a few minutes. They are in their 80s and have decided to live it up. They have sold their caravanette and bought an open top sports car and are into cocktails. They have warned us about the cocktails!!!

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 20-Dec-15 15:34:29

Don't know where question mark came from. tchhmm

My Christmas activity today has been washing up! I am staying for a few days with my 100 year old Aunt in deepest Sussex. DD3 and her family arrived this morning complete with a 'Christmas' lunch, crackers, the works, stayed for 3 hours and then drove home again - a 4 hour round trip. It made my Aunt's day and made me a very tearful proud Mum tchsmile

Galen Sun 20-Dec-15 17:04:38

Well, safely on board but the decisions continues!
Which long out fit do I wear tonight ? The grey, the peach or the black?
Oh dear! It's a hard life isn't it??????

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 20-Dec-15 18:00:18

You are a long way from home Marmight! Good on your DD. tchsmile

have a great time Galen and good luck with the demanding choices being imposed on you, plus give those pearls an outing x

Nelliemoser Sun 20-Dec-15 18:25:13

Will someone please tell what those numberplate thingies are about?

Stansgran Sun 20-Dec-15 18:50:35

Galen I've just put my Queen Victoria holiday souvenir from last year on the tree. Have a lovely time.

Did nothing Christmas-like yesterday so today I must ice the cake - once I buy a cake board, the need for one sort of passed me by tchblush. Need to do the laundry, make a proper list for food shop tomorrow also find a gift for a child I haven't met but will be there on Christmas Day. Seems wrong not to. Thought I'd got away with the food as we're with the children and their children but then I thought I should contribute something. Foolishly I asked what I could bring. So I'm cooking a variety of sweet things to specific request. That will have to be Wednesday along with more laundry while DH cleans (he's good at it) as we are out all day on 24th, seemed like a good idea at the time. tchgrin. That's what comes of thinking I was organised!

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 21-Dec-15 08:37:03

I have got to face the wrapping.

Don't want to ice the cake too soon as have got a packet of Tate and Lyle Ryal Icing sugar (cheating) and I don't want it to go rock solid too soon.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 21-Dec-15 08:39:31

Oops! Just noticed that I said on original post that I would be doing the wrapping, and I'm still procrastinating. tchblush

Stansgran Mon 21-Dec-15 08:46:18

Add a little more glycerine in the mix, assuming it's a mix. Or is it ready roll?

shysal Mon 21-Dec-15 08:55:10

My plans to take GCs shopping for presents for their Mum are on hold as my gas boiler has sprung a leak and I have a time slot for repair of 8am till 6pm! I have had to turn off the mains water so it will be a long day. I fear they will say I need a new boiler, what bad timing!

Pittcity Mon 21-Dec-15 09:01:26

Nana3 , food shopping is being delivered on Wednesday so that I have Thursday to get anything that is missing. I wouldn't inflict a big supermarket shop on myself ever again as home delivery is so painless!
Today's Christmas task is visiting relatives and delivering presents.

whitewave Mon 21-Dec-15 09:12:36

Make soup, leek sauce, and vegetable bake for tomorrow's lunch with mum and sister.
Possibly make sausage rolls and freeze raw for cooking as and when

Teetime Mon 21-Dec-15 09:35:36

I hope you have a great trip galen so sensible.

Today I shall make mince pies and some neighbours coming round for a drink at tea time- the same octogenarians who got us tipsy yesterday but not as tipsy as them!!!
