Diversity

Soontobe has made a point that there should be more diversity on GN.
What do others think?
It is a tricky one because first of all GN is open to all who choose to contribute, but obviously self-selecting to a degree just by the site name and target group.
It is also hard to establish the degree of diversity among members as we retain anonymity and are under no obligation to reveal or even refer to ethnic background, religious affiliation, physical or any other disability, political inclination ( well some people are very clear on that, but not necessarily all) education, age, colour or shoe size.
So who's to say?
Does it really matter?
tchconfused

Oh you love a challenge jingl By all means keep it going if you really want to. You won't need me though. grin Night all moon

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 13-Dec-15 22:36:26

I have just seen there is a thread with the title, "Ancient Iranian pottery-making"

Just how diverse do you expect Gransnet to be?! tchgrin

Elegran Sun 13-Dec-15 22:34:12

Don't extend it then, unless you can change the direction completely.for instance - how many different pictures of tree baubles can we post before Christmas? I shall go and photograph one of mine for a start. Back in a few minutes. Diversity here we come.

Quoting Lara:

"Just wanted you all to know we are around...and wishing this thread would disappear tchwink"

Right! How long can we keep it going for. Till Xmas Eve? Boxing Day? tchgrin

Galen Sun 13-Dec-15 22:28:31

Ok!
Hold this space for pictures of gorgeous meals, lovely waiters and ----me!

Luckygirl Sun 13-Dec-15 22:18:31

There will always be disrupters and nutters - best ignored - or joked about. Certainly not taken seriously for goodness sake! Life's too short.

Don't go galen - your nautical wanderings are the nearest I will ever get to a cruise - please don't deny me that ongoing vicarious pleasure!

Bellanonna Sun 13-Dec-15 22:18:20

Galen. Don't go. Everyone will miss your " pearls" of wisdom. smile. And I'd love to hear about your upcoming cruise. Just for the sake of one rather unenlightened person who has really gone a bit too far this time with playground mutterings of reporting. Enjoy the Canaries, have a lovely time, and let us hear all about it too !

annsixty Sun 13-Dec-15 22:13:07

I went to a panto on Thursday with a JW. She is the GM of my GD's best friend and the four us went together. I had not met her before and she was charming and very friendly and loved the panto. Just a bit of diversion and reality really. I made my real point round about the the third post.

Galen Sun 13-Dec-15 22:10:33

And GN ( when not being disrupted)

Elegran Sun 13-Dec-15 22:06:09

That is what relatives are about - and friends.

Penstemmon Sun 13-Dec-15 22:04:05

Elegran I don't have any JW rellies, happy to adopt some! But all my others are lovely too! Some I handle with more of a 'kid glove' approach than others but on the whole we all get on well, despite all our differences we have enough similarities to glue us all together! tchgrin

Katek Sun 13-Dec-15 21:43:09

Point. Missed. As per. Favete linquis soon.

Night night, everybody else.

Elegran Sun 13-Dec-15 21:43:01

Penstemmon Just read your list of denominations and you have missed out JWs. Can I fill that gap with a JW relative of whom I am very fond - she is a nice, funny, generous person, just like most gransnetters. We just have to avoid discussing religion in any depth.

petallus Sun 13-Dec-15 21:43:00

And I thought my family were an interesting bunch! smile

ninathenana Sun 13-Dec-15 21:42:44

Galen please stay.

Elegran Sun 13-Dec-15 21:39:42

Wow, Penstemmon with all that diversity we don't need anyone else at all!

GillT57 Sun 13-Dec-15 21:39:36

don't let soon drive you away galen, we need good sense and wit. As for you soon you can clear off as quickly as you like. I have no interest in contributing any more to this, and suggest we all leave soon to it.

Penstemmon Sun 13-Dec-15 21:38:01

soon
company, enjoyment, fun, interaction, diversion.
It must be just me then that thinks that's what chatting is tchconfused

Alea Sun 13-Dec-15 21:32:39

After noon, hmm
No comment.

mcem Sun 13-Dec-15 21:27:43

You're not alone Galen. It's very wearing isn't it.
To think we might lose one of our most respected and popular posters because of her mindless drivel!
Perhaps GNHQ might advise us - if someone chooses to report not one specific post but an ongoing stream of inappropriate comments and unacceptable behaviour would an admonishment be handed out?
How many p*****-off posters does it take to have one nuisance advised that her attitudes are unacceptable? I assume of course that it would be kept on record ???

etheltbags1 Sun 13-Dec-15 21:26:06

What a lot of boring c...p, I have read this with interest, you have all had a go at each other and for what. Who cares if the posters are black/white or sky blue pink/lesbian/gay/fat or thin/transsexual/bi sexual or hetrosexual.
I don't care and nor should anyone else.
