rq it's not really inverse snobbery. We don't have a Waitrose near us either, it's almost 20 miles away. There's probably at least 3 of every other supermarket within 10 miles of us. Obviously it depends on what you buy, but our regular weekly shopping would definitely cost more at Waitrose (or M&S). We split our shopping most weeks between Lidl and Tesco, and when we need certain items we go to ASDA instead of Tesco (I am not too happy about shopping at Tesco tbh). We have a caravan and when we're away from home we shop around more. There's a Waitrose in Menai Bridge on Anglesey and we've shopped there a few times. We live a few miles from a motorway service station and nip on and off through the back entrance
and sometimes stop at the Waitrose there for bread or milk!
