Estranged Grandchildren

Lovely that they made contact again.

I haven't seen any of my six grandchildren for about 7 years now. When my son remarried (lovely girl unlike the first!) they didn't tell his first five children, with ex wife, until after the event. But new wife's children were included. I didn't agree with that, was told it was none of my business and haven't had contact since.

That is a nice end to your story.

My grandchildren are not estranged, but they live in Singapore. I chat and play with them via SKYPE every week, and spend Christmas with them. It appears to be the modern way of life these days, I have no reason to complain. But how long I can keep up the traveling remains to be seen

Although I have been reading posts from time to time I have not taken an active part in Gransnet for quite sometime .
I would like to say now to the many grandparents who no longer see their grandchild or grandchildren Please don'give up hope .We were told 14 yrs ago by our then daughter in law (we had always treated her as a daughter ,never ever fallen out with her ,in fact she always said she got on better with us than her own parents !)
that we could no longer see our 2 grandsons , after 2 years the elder one left home and came to us . In March his year the younger one rang us (such a surprise ! )and said he wanted to visit ,which he has done on 2 occasions since ,and has promised to come again soon .
So other gransnetters take heart ,your grandchildren will grow up (I know we and you have missed so many years ) and form their own opinions ,make their own decisions,
and hopefully your story will end as happily as ours .
