Woohoo!! Done it! Not sure how but my picture has finally come to rest exactly where I want it to be. My head is mince however, think I need a restorative cuppa.

Husband off to airport shortly when I will finally get peace to attack this problem. Currently driving me mad with the 'where's my....' questions!

It doesn't sound to me as though the picture is too big, more that it has somehow got itself formatted to stick to the top of the page, and be immoveable. Katek needs to change that formatting to make it stay in line with the text/paragraph.

Yes, nina because you need to size the photo to fit into the available space, or better still, box. Otherwise it will be too big and throw everything out.

Kate - you need to click on the clip art and make it smaller by going to the CORNER of the box that appears. A little diagonal arrow will appear, and you can then make the icon smaller by dragging that arrow towards the middle of the box. That way the proportions of the picture do not change (i.e. it does not become long and thin or short and fat).

I still use text boxes. That way things stay where you put them better!

Don't forget to Save As often. You may end up with lots of copies but there's less chance of loosing the option you like best.

I don't use Word 10, but try a right click on the picture, then from the picture menu choose to anchor it to the paragraph, not the page. I don't know how Word 10 does it exactly, but in Open Office (free!) that is under "Type", and you can choose how the text wraps round the picture with "wrap"

Yes.....tried moving it around but it's stretching and stubbornly refusing to move from the top where presumably the text is hidden. I just get a long thin picture! Who needs google or tutorials when you have GN?!

Back to basics. Do you know how to resize your picture ie. make it bigger or smaller?

That's why tutorials with pictures are so helpful - in the absence of a personal IT guru there's nothing like pictures to help us out!

Another thing to try is the text wrapping settings, in other words where the picture sits in relation to the text. The default setting is usually in line with the text, but it is often not what you want. You didn't say what programme you're using (including the year e.g. Word 2007), but if you Google text wrapping settings and the programme you're using, you'll find tutorials on how to get the picture to sit where you want it.

You may also need to lock the picture in one place or allow it to move with the text if you add or delete text. In the same settings look out for move object with text or lock anchor.

I had a similar problem the other day when I was trying to create a flyer for a Christmas singing event that I am organising. I suddenly found that I had an unintended second page that had been caused by the clip art being too big. Good luck with it.
