Silver Wedding Anniversaries

Our anniversary is in early December, a perfect time to go to California for our silver! We had never done anything special for our previous anniversaries (apart from a nice meal) bt we managed to scrape some cash together for this. Everywhere is quiet at that time as it's too cold for the Americans but for us Brits it's shorts-and-tee shirt weather! We rented an apartment at Dana Point, south of LA. We walked on the beach every morning and evening, explored loads , went whale/dolphin watching, it was fantastic!

We were going to see the bulbfields at tulip time in Holland for our silver wedding but the company cancelled at the last moment so it didn't happen - and still hasn't! Two years to go for our golden wedding ...... so you never know.

Ours was also in August but many years ago now and we went to the Lake District for a week in a very nice hotel and it was lovely.We had DC 18 and 13 but made arrangements for them and just enjoyed ourselves selfishly.We discovered a love for walking which we enjoyed for many more years , many of them again in the Lake District.

We also had an August wedding and for our 25th we had a big, big party; we hired a lovely place and had afternoon tea with close friends and family, then had an evening 'do' for a hundred with a range of music and poems and speeches. I loved every moment of it because when we got married people weren't shy in saying it wouldn't last - and our celebration was a gentle poke in the eye for the naysayers.

Then I went away with my husband and (adult) children for a few days to Cornwall.

It was a time of parental illness and death sadly so we are going to enjoy our 40th next year. We want to go to Rome, have a family do and I want to go to Chelsea flower show.
