We've had the thread about music that makes you cry - what makes you stop what you're doing and dance round the kitchen?

I'm currently rocking to Rockin' Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Blues smile

Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars.

I dance to this with my two young grandsons, their parents think I am quite mad. grin

Have just come back to this thread and wonder where Jack went out of my 'Jumpin Flash'!
I've also just thought of Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean' which gets me back into an aerobics routine I did a few years ago and 'Dancing in the Street' by David Bowie and Mick Jagger which I loved but I haven't heard it in years.

nonnanna yes, loud and out of tune singing is compulsory with lots of dancing songs!

When Simon Mayo plays Enjoy Yourself (It's later than you think) at the start of his Drivetime show on R5 Live, I bopp and sing along to that. His all request Friday is full of great bopping songs when I am in the kitchen.

Grandma2213 Thu 05-Nov-15 02:13:47

Quite a lot of these I've never heard of or wouldn't dance to! (shocking grammar!) At a pinch I would say 'Jumpin Flash' or Kylie's 'Can't get you out of my head'.

No the words aren't flattering I suppose Maggie smile

feetlebaum Wed 04-Nov-15 08:48:46

Don't dance - never have, never will - but if I did, this might get me at it...

... puts a smile on my face anyway!

Nothing beats bopping except, perhaps, bongo on an upturned washing up bowl. Love all the songs mentioned above.... wish I could name a few current 'hits' tho!!!

Maggiemaybe Wed 04-Nov-15 08:34:07

I like to do that to Fairytale of New York, gillybob grin

gillybob Wed 04-Nov-15 08:28:39

There's nothing to beat dancing around the kitchen and I do like to bash a few pots too (in rhythm of course) . I love anything by Queen, T-Rex (especially I love to Boogie) , and Jackson by Johnny Cash and June Carter. I sing both parts !

kittylester Wed 04-Nov-15 07:29:30

Lots of Beach Boy tracks for me and most of Meatloaf recordings. Also Ring of Fire!

nonnanna Wed 04-Nov-15 07:25:00

Oh yes, all of these plus the Killers..Are we human? That's my modern day favourite. Bouncing around accompanied by very bad, loud singing.

Alima Wed 04-Nov-15 06:56:44

Yes Wilma K, the very best one to dance to and scrub the kitchen floor to, gets it done very quickly!

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 04-Nov-15 00:06:29

So many brilliant songs already mentioned. Another one is

Hanson's Mmmbop

But if I had to choose just one it would be I Love To Boogie by T Rex - never heard it before I watched Billy Elliot! grin

Elrel Tue 03-Nov-15 23:18:31

Oblada di, Oblada da by The Marmalade, loads of 50s rock'n'roll!

starbird Tue 03-Nov-15 23:11:39

I do line dancing and most of what we dance to us sixties stuff, Dance the Night Away, Dancing on a Saturday Night, King of the Road, to name a few. More contemporary is Marvin Gaye, and we do a 64 beat dance to Miller Magic (a compilation). I know dozens of dances and have many of the songs on my iPad so can dance around the kitchen anytime!

EastEndGranny Tue 03-Nov-15 22:40:04

I'm with you on this one. Definitely one for shedding a few calories!!!

Maggiemaybe Tue 03-Nov-15 20:02:54

Noooooo, KatyK, I love Rod but that's my least favourite of his songs grin Probably because people (including my DH) used to request it for me in my teens whenever there was a DJ about - believe me, the words did not flatter, though I must admit that that morning sun when it's in my face really does show my age now!
